Sofi stood in the locker room, her hands clasped behind her ramrod-straight back, staring out at her team. Their first game was only two days away, on Friday, which meant that they only had time for one more practice. To add to Sofi's somewhat tense mood, the Captain of the Slytherin team, whom they were to face, had booked the pitch the next day during Hufflepuff's usual practice time.
Probably to throw us off, she thought bitterly, Damn it, Addison.... couldn't you be considerate for once and make it for after our practice??
"Alright, team," she said briskly, addressing the six people before her, This is the last practice we get before the game, due to the Slytherin's tactics of stealin' our spot tomorrow. We've got a lot to get done, but you guys've been doin' great lately, so I'm sure we can patch up any and all rough spots we might have. If there's any at all, that is..."
Her chest lifted slightly with pride: her team really was exceptional. Maybe even good enough to win the Quidditch Cup... Still, this was a time for working, not a time for fantasizing about what-ifs. They had games to win, if they were to get the Cup, and the first one was too close to allow for distractions.
"So... full gear, and then we'll go out and warm up. I want that extra weight of pads today for warm-ups; should motivate you a bit more, eh?" She grinned at her team, not able to keep her eyes from lingering for a second on her boyfriend and fellow Beater, DC, before turning and grabbing up her pads, beginning the arduous task of lacing them onto her body. She didn't even wear traditional Beater's pads, which were much heavier than what she preferred for easy movement, but it was still a bit of a job to get the Chaser's gear she wore on properly, without slippage, especially with her figure.
