Outside. It was such a strange feeling for Selene to be outside... Having spent so much time in the City of Shadows, the sensation of wind against her skin seemed foreign. Sounds of people she didn't know were startling. She avoided the people, not wanting to be around humans during this time outside. She had fed but a day before, so she had no need of them for a Fill... and since even she in her radical mindset compared to the rest of her people found most humans to be beneath her, she didn't feel like sullying her evening with talking to animals.
After the incident during which she had met Sullivan, she had made it a habit to always carry more weaponry with her when she ventured out, and tonight was no exception: her sword was strapped to her back, and her two daggers hung at her hips, ready for drawing both from the front or the back, depending on her need. The belt around her waist also held throwing blades in its pouches. As the infernal wolf creature Cedric would put it, she was "loaded for bear," but she still skipped and leaped across the rooftops with the lightness of a gazelle moving across the plains.
Until a scent caught her attention.
Selene froze halfway across a roof, her senses suddenly strained to the utmost to figure out what she was becoming aware of. Dog... wolf... what was it? Mixed with an almost human-ish scent, but decidedly not so. Her body ran cold when she figured it out: she had never smelled this scent in its purest form, as it was now. Cedric, not being pure, only gave an impression of it, but this... this was definitely a pure Garou. And close.
Not wanting to draw attention to her position, she dropped her hands to the ground and spider-crawled to the edge of the building, trying to figure out where the smell was the strongest. It wasn't difficult, since it was nearly overpowering her. Her sense of smell was stronger than the humans, but not so much as she knew the Garou's would be... it would be aware of her much sooner than she should like.
I must catch it by surprise, if I can, she thought, her left, favored hand moving toward her belt to grasp the handle of the dagger on that side, I must not run.... it will hunt me, if I run... I must fight, and kill if I can... And suddenly, she was moving: up onto her feet, drawing her dagger, and leaping off the building toward the sound of an approaching body, all in one movement. Her dagger was poised to strike; if her aim was true and her opponent hadn't become aware of her, she would hit her mark and inflict much damage. If not... trouble was beginning.
