The harsh, unforgiving cold of winter has long set in. Snow covers the ground and students tend find things to do inside as much as possible. With the Yule Ball fast approaching, students certainly have things to discuss and plan.

Politically, things are nowhere near as sound as people are lead to believe. There is turmoil amongst the ranks of the Death Eaters as Callid Warren and Fierro Darque plot against Trevor Williams, who is aided by Sienna Faber, but can she be trusted? Even amongst the people, there seems to be social unrest as SAVIOR works to free slaves and the leader of the Order of the Phoenix finds himself captured. Unification is necessary, but will it happen?

Playable: 17-31 December 2010

"Did you kill anyone?" Trevor repeated, raising his brows and pursing his lips slightly before relaxing his face and shrugging a shoulder. "Why should I tell you whether you've killed someone or not? You seem far too nonchalant for someone who could have killed someone, far too nonchalant--especially considering that I could kill you right here, right now, and no one would care. I wouldn't even have to lie, if I didn't want to. The Faber family has brilliant minds. The loss of any one of them and thereby any posterity they could have given would be a detrimental loss to society."

He paused, staring at her, his stern gaze unwavering. He couldn't understand her, but her lack of any sort of conscience was disconcerting. He didn't want someone like that in the general flow of society. He didn't know if even Ike could rehabilitate someone like this. Most of the patients here in Azkaban that Ike treated had consciences. They may have offended the law, but they had consciences and only did so because they believed they were in the right. This girl? It seemed she had only done what she had done because she could, because she felt like it. Clearly, the girl was a pyromaniac. Clearly, the girl had to be a bit of a sociopath. Clearly, she had problems, regardless, enough to get her locked away in here or Mungo's for a long, long time. She was far too much of a wild card to be released after all this.

However, even if he was pretty sure he knew her motives, he wanted to understand the method to her madness. And therefore, the question had to be asked now if he ever hoped for honest confirmation or discomfirmation. "Why did you do it, Miss Vesta? Why did you burn the Faber manor? Why did you burn those other homes?" There was no telling what she would say or what the expression on her face would be whilst saying whatever she would say. This girl wasn't right in the head. Never mind that he had put on that same face years ago before his own imprisonment in hopes that Voldemort would repay him for staying faithful through adversity. But he knew what lay behind such displays of confidence: fear, pure, simple fear.

For a murderer, he was acting a bit oddly about her question. She stared at him for a moment, thinking about what he had said. For one thing, he was wrong. She didn't know if she had killed someone or not. The truth was, she didn't really care. So what if she seemed too nonchalant? If she had killed someone, it was an accident. They were in a better place now, especially because anyone dead would probably be a slave. And sure, he could kill her. She was aware of it, but just because she didn't show that she was afraid didn't mean that she knew she hadn't killed anyone.

She half-restrained herself from laughing at his words: The Faber family has brilliant minds. The loss of any one of them and thereby any posterity they could have given would be a detrimental loss to society. For one thing, millions of people had brilliant minds, and they died all the time. So what if they were dead? Someone else would help society, if it could be saved. And Seraphine wasn't sure the Fabers or anyone else could save it.

He was looking at her sternly, like a teacher trying to assert his authority and maturity, but honestly, Sera didn't care at this point. She was either going to die, or she wasn't. Maybe he was confused, and that was why he was saying things that didn't make any sense. On second thought, Seraphine had always had a habit of confusing people. Her mind just seemed to be on a completely different level.

But Seraphine truly didn't believe that she was insane. She knew she wasn't. She was just... different. She did care about people, but only the vulnerable. She had a sense of right and wrong... it was just different than the traditional views. Seraphine wasn't crazy. The man sitting before her, a murderer and a liar, was crazy. He was a meglomaniac. Evil.

Why did she burn the Faber mansion? That was a good question. Seraphine paused for a minute, thoughtful. She really didn't know. After a moment, she shrugged. "I don't know," she said. "It's just a building."

"I don't know. It's just a building."

Trevor sat there, keeping his eyes trained on Seraphine for the longest time. The statement itself wasn't shocking nor the idea behind it. In fact, the lack of caring wasn't a huge shock either. What was, however, was the fact that it was this person, a citizen, who was saying it. Had she truly no conscience? Was she really willing to risk killing someone for the sake of doing something for some "unknown" reason? That, he doubted, yet the nonchalant demeanor she held to said otherwise. He found it hard to believe. Yes, he knew some even in his ranks held such a lack of conscience that they could easily kill someone in cold blood or for no reason at all, "by accident." But they were willing to acknowledge it, boast about it even. This girl confused him. But not even he held that attitude even if he might portray it to save face and get the needed respect from other Death Eaters. He had only killed out of necessity or because he had been told to.

He had to understand this. She couldn't get away with such a childish answer. Or was she that insane? That insane that she had no mental capacity than the selfish mentality of a young child? "Why did you do it?" he repeated again, leaning forward, resting his arms on the table, crossed with one over the other. This woman would tell him. "Why did you do any of it?" There had to be some method to this madness. Even if it didn't make logical sense, there simply must be. Of course, perhaps this was where a psychoanalyst of some sort would come in handy. It would be necessary no matter what in this sort of case. They needed to know if she would be a danger to herself or other prisoners or guards or if she needed mental help in a high security ward in St. Mungo's instead.

Of course, this would mean the same end over time, right? Not necessarily, he supposed. The question was whom should he wake tonight? Isaac Malcolm or Michael Trudeau? He'd ponder that more once he got an answer and concluded this interview as soon as possible. Honestly! The people in this world today!
