The harsh, unforgiving cold of winter has long set in. Snow covers the ground and students tend find things to do inside as much as possible. With the Yule Ball fast approaching, students certainly have things to discuss and plan.
Politically, things are nowhere near as sound as people are lead to believe. There is turmoil amongst the ranks of the Death Eaters as Callid Warren and Fierro Darque plot against Trevor Williams, who is aided by Sienna Faber, but can she be trusted? Even amongst the people, there seems to be social unrest as SAVIOR works to free slaves and the leader of the Order of the Phoenix finds himself captured. Unification is necessary, but will it happen?

How Far We've Come {Elektra} « Thread Started on Jun 19, 2009, 3:07am »
24 June 1996
They had been hiking for about an hour by this point and Landon was more than ready to take a break. No, he wouldn't dare sit down because he didn't fancy lime disease, but stopping walking to take a sip of water and catch a bit of a breather didn't sound like a bad idea. "Break time?" he asked, not really giving his fiancée much of an opportunity to answer as he stopped and took a couple bottles of water from the small sack he carried on his back and handed her one, giving her a smile before taking a sip. The weather was perfect for their outing today, which was something he was thankful for. Today was just for them. In the car out at the start of the trail were a few things like a softball and some gloves and a basket of picnicking necessities that they would enjoy after this. He knew he was already starting to feel a twinge of hunger. It would be time to turn back soon but they had a little while, he supposed. However long Lex decided to go, he'd go. After all, they had granola bars that he could use to tie himself over. So long as he was fed real food eventually, he would be happy.
He had to say he was feeling rather good today. It wasn't like they exactly had a chance to see each other as often as he'd and, he was sure, she'd like between their two work schedules, but on days off like this, it was nice to just get away and do a little something at least one of the days and then the other set aside a little time for wedding planning, which so far was fairly boring to him. Yes, he liked the way that her face seemed to light up at the sight of some of the dresses and other things in the magazines. He was as excited as her, he thought, about the wedding, the beginning of a new chapter and a new experience in his life--one he'd hopefully only have this once--but he figured this day was more for the bride anyway. All the frilly pretty things were something he could care less about, really. Let her show up in some simple dress and say, "I do," and he'd be just as happy as if she wore some fancy dress and did her hair up. It wasn't that he didn't want to see her in a dress like that, for it was something he did fancy to some extent, that vision, and he didn't mind fancy hair, just preferred it down as opposed to up, but whatever she wanted, she'd get. As long as she was happy so was he.
He lowered the bottle from his lips and twisted on the cap, giving her a smile as he looked around the area they were in. Behind him was a small, rocky stream with a fallen tree that hovered over it from bank to bank a good number of feet above. Someone had placed a makeshift railing of wood along it to make crossing easier and less dangerous, but Landon would never be caught dead on it. It was too far too fall and too narrow a surface. Not to mention, he didn't trust the one-sided railing. All around them were trees, their branches and leaves far above them. The sun peeked in at random spots, creating shadows on the leaf-covered ground below their feet. The trail itself was of a reddish dirt. All in all, it was beautiful. "It's absolutely brilliant out here, isn't it?" he declared, looking back to his fiancée with a smile as he lowered his hand, which he had used to shield his eyes from the sun whilst looking up. The wedding was so close. Elektra’s stomach was full of butterflies. She wasn’t sure if it was from the hike and how far they’d gotten in the past few minutes, or if it was the daydream she was having of their ‘perfect day’. In fact, that was all she could think of ever since he'd popped the question. Everything had to be perfect, just like his proposal, just like everything between them. Perfect. Aside from the constant clumsiness on her part, the two were inseparable, made for each other, and Elektra knew she was so deep in love.
Her reverie went on. The smell of the flowers, the sound of the music playing as she strolled down the aisle in that elaborate white dress. The train would be just right, the flower girls walking in front of her throwing petals, and other little ones would be carrying her train. She would be on her father’s arm, beaming at him with a pearly white smile, completely elated to arrive at the end where Landon would be waiting for her. He would look handsome in his suit, of course. Landon always looked amazing to her, chiseled to perfection as if he was modeled from one of the Gods. Then Elektra’s thoughts jumped to the fact that she couldn’t to see what kind of magic their families would put together for their ceremony and reception. She couldn’t stop smiling, because she couldn’t get the wedding day out of her head.
Stopping to wipe the sweat off of her face, Elektra guzzled down some of the water from the bottle he‘d given her. This tiny break they were taking gave her a chance to catch her breath and stretch out her legs a bit. The brilliance of their scenery was definitely breathtaking.
Nodding at her fiancé, she agreed in silence. There was no other souls out there, save the hiding animals, but the two of them, enjoying the peace of the tranquil silence and the incredible view. ”Definitely amazing.” She flashed a pearly white smile at him, before stepping up quickly and stealing a kiss. ”This is just so wonderful. I’m glad we came out here today, I think we needed this.”

Landon's eyes stayed on Lex as she guzzled down some water, wandering lower, but as soon as he sense the water bottle was about to come down, he took a quick drink and lowered his own. Maybe she'd buy he hadn't been staring. Ultimately, it didn't really matter. It wasn't like he was some pervy old man and/or stranger. He was her fiancé, and that made all the difference in the world. He watched as she agreed and smiled as she "stole" a kiss before continuing to speak. He nodded in agreement, taking a good drink himself before giving his official response. "I'm glad we did, too, because with our mums always wanting to help with planning and then all of your 'pesky' little friends--" he winked here playfully, "--coming around to discuss the wedding, we definitely need this, time to catch up and be alone."
It was his turn to steal a kiss before wrapping his arm casually around her shoulders and looking ahead at the creek before them, trickling down the slight slope and past the rocks that rose fairly high above it. After a while he glanced over his shoulder to see what the path was like ahead, but it seemed to quickly get lost in the trees--more quickly than a gradual incline would entail. Of course, there was also that fallen log that went from bank to bank a few feet above the water that someone had added a make-shift rail he felt would do them no good in the long run. "You ready to head back to eat?" he asked, feeling his stomach start to turn and hurt, though he knew it wasn't from hunger. It was fear and nerves, but it wasn't like he was going to admit that to her--not that she didn't know about his fear of heights, but still...

Elektra couldn't help but giggle as he talked about her mother and her friends trying to interfere with the wedding planning. It was true, they all had their moments, trying to steal the limelight from either Landon or Lex with their ideas, but Elektra realized they were more fixated on changing the bridesmaid's dresses or choosing food to their liking. As kind as she was, and willing to appease the masses, Elektra rolled with the punches, trying to meet most demands without letting her toes be smashed. All in all, she knew this was going to be a wonderful day, a celebration of her love to Landon Wendham-Pryce, her heart, her soul mate, and the love of her life. Nothing could possibly ruin that day. And really, no matter what, she was going to be the happiest bride ever.
"It's only funny because it is true. Mum loves to plan these sorts of things, and even more so because it's going to be mine. She means well. The girls, on the other hand..." Elektra trailed off and shook her head, thinking about her girl friends. "And the view is just wonderful. I love it out here. Peaceful. Gives me a chance to think to myself for a moment." The view, of course, being Landon's firm form, standing in the great outdoors. She loved seeing him active. Actually, Lex just loved to see him, period. He was a handsome man, polite and kind, and the perfect catch. She loved him so much.
Nodding at his question, Elektra took a few steps in the direction he was wanting to go, the direction of the food. It was the perfect time to go back now, and she was perfectly happy with her perfect man. At this point, Elektra didn't think life could be any better...then she had a daydream about their wedding, and sighed softly in sheer bliss. She stopped for a moment, turned and extended her hand toward him, knowing that running down the steep hill and over the rocks on his own was probably going to freak him out. Of course she hadn't forgotten about his little fear of heights. In fact, she thought it was adorable.

Landon nodded in agreement as she stated her mother meant well. So did his. It was just...ugh! Let them breathe, let them decide if they wanted roses or lilies or pansies or chrysanthemums or even sunflowers for that matter. He really didn't care as long as Elektra was happy. It was their wedding, Lex's day to have everything her way, and she was going to have it. If she asked for suggestions or whatever, then do it but otherwise? Yes, the latter was mostly to her friends--not that they could hear him, of course. He abandoned that train of thought as she went on to mention the view, and he smiled at her. It was definitely gorgeous out here. Why else would he want to take her here? It was just the return trip that was always..."fun." So, he was glad when she took his hand.
He wouldn't mind doing this again, of course, but he had other ideas for next time. A picnic dinner in the park and a movie or going to the skating rink and skating or bowling or have her over for dinner. But they had the rest of their lives together to spend time together and enjoy each other. It was just a matter of time before they were wed. The closer the time was drawing, the more comfortable he was becoming with the idea and the fewer doubts he was having. He just couldn't wait until things could go back to normal in their relationship, though. He was tired of all these people being around all the time. Friends were fine to have around, but he just wanted to laze around with her. He did wonder, however, how things would be the day of their wedding and the night before. Would her friends be guarding him from staying all night or seeing her that day beforehand? It could be a fun challenge, but he couldn't wait to see her come down that aisle to him, all radiantly beautiful.
"What do you think to yourself about out here?" he decided to ask after walking a while. He had an idea that it was about life right now or about him, but hey, it was a conversation topic for the time being, something that might get them to the picnic area without a strange lull.

Elektra pondered a moment before she could answer her beloved's question. It was tough to pinpoint one, but she decided to go with the inevitably obvious. "You." It was a cop out, she knew, but it was the truth. Well, mostly. She was stressed as all hell about this wedding. Climbing and hiking always made her relax, but the wedding and her friends and her mum, and everything else floating around was driving her mad. She couldn't reveal this to Landon, of course, as she wanted to worry him as little as possible. Landon deserved to be on the up and up, sure, he deserved the complete truth, but Elektra wanted to spare him the grief over all of this nonsense. "But really, I think of you all the time, love. Isn't that what you wanted to hear?"
The lithe woman giggled as she continued to walk, her destination: their picnic spot. Her stomach growled a bit in their trek, making her shake her head, scolding herself for failing to pack a filling snack. "Honestly baby, the view is so liberating. The top of the cliff, looking down at everything scurrying, growing, resting below. It's relaxing. It makes me think of how much happier I will be to be called Mrs. Wendham-Pryce. I've thought that many-a-time."
And that, was the truth. She wanted to be married to this man in her company more than anything else in the world. Her friends asked her if she would rather have a million pounds or marry Landon (and picking both was cheating), she picked Landon. From the awkward moments they shared at Hogwarts all the way through their relationship after school, she pinpointed this young bloke as "The One". And she wouldn't have it any other way. Elektra flashed her pearly white smile at her fiancée and kept on, seeing their destination in the distance. "And you? What's on that mind of yours, now that you're out here?" She bopped him on the nose lightly with her forefinger teasingly, keeping her stride with him. "You can't say 'me', taking my answer is cheating."

"But Leeeeeeeex!" Landon groaned. "I can't help it if all I'm thinking about is you right now, can I? Besides, it's hard not to think about you no matter what I'm doing, so it's not really cheating, is it? Don't be cruel, 'lektra!" He pouted, feeling particularly silly doing so. However, he didn't allow himself to focus on the feeling for too long. After all, Elektra was his fiancee. There wasn't much of him she hadn't seen, physically or personality-wise, he thought, so why should there be any awkwardness for her to see him making a "childish" gesture? It wasn't like he was perfectly mature one hundred percent of the time they were together. It would all be rather dull and boring if he was.
After a moment of the ridiculous look on his face, he let it disappear. "In all seriousness, though, it is you. Yes, it's brilliant out here, and it's relaxing and it's peaceful, but somehow it pales in comparison to you. After all, I did come here to spend time with you, not commune with Mother Nature, no?" He nudged her playfully. This was all so sappy and such, but he knew she liked it when he complimented her and whatnot, so sue him if he decided to do so. At least it was keeping his mind off the descent. "But, if you want me to not copy you, then I'll say food. That surely delicious picnic I'm sure you prepared for us back at the car." He rose a brow as he looked at her. "Satisfy you?"
((Well, considering dad came in and gave me a headache while I was in the middle of writing it, I guess it's decent. *goes to get Tylenol*))

Elektra laughed aloud as he pouted, apparently wanting to say the exact answer she didn't want him to say, as it would have most definitely been 'cheating'. Landon made her laugh often, and that's one of the things Elektra loved so much about her husband-to-be. His sense of humor, his jokes, his playfulness, not to mention those crazy faces (much like the one he was making at that very moment) he would make. He was intelligent, selfless, sweet, and drop dead gorgeous, to boot. She sure got lucky with this one.
"Satisfy you?"
Naughtily raising a brow, she nudged him back and planted a kiss on his sweaty cheek. "Always." And of course, she must love him to put up with that. Granted, Elektra wasn't a neat freak, but she didn't usually enjoy sweat for the sake of sweat, unless it had intimacy attached to it. Still, she pulled out her handkerchief and wiped some of the sweat from his face before kissing him again. "All this thought and mention of food, though. I am absolutely famished." At that very moment, Elektra's stomach growled as loudly as it could.
She laughed again. She seemed to be having so many laughter-filled, amazing moments these days, and most of them were spent with her amazing fiancee. "But the food's all the way at the car, and we're so very far from it...must we walk the entire way back?" There was a hint of playfulness in her voice, as she raised her eyebrow again, this time in means of mischievousness. They could most definitely make the trek back on foot, or they could even apparate if they were that lazy. But they were nothing of the sort...Elektra had something a bit faster in mind, something involving their brooms and a race. She hoped Landon was up for it, as she hadn't raced him in a great while.
