The sound of the younger boy's voice surprised Justin, though he managed to keep from jumping and spilling the punch he had managed to grab. He'd cut in line a bit to get it so fast, but he didn't care tonight. Too bad the punch hadn't been spiked yet. Not having that edge to it was kind of making the sickly sweet liquid seem inadequate. Maybe he should have stocked up on the last Hogsmeade trip, but oh well. Hind sight was twenty twenty. He'd just get some on the next one or something.
To be honest, the boy was more aware than Justin was. He'd become accustomed to zoning in on the quaffle and ignoring the faces of the players on opposing teams for the most part. After all, it was the movement of the quaffle he cared about most. It also didn't help that everyone had probably some remembrance of him from the incident with DC a month or two ago when his friend had been under the influence of a love potion. A guy kissing another one out of the blue when both were thought straight wasn't something quickly forgotten--especially when DC had gone on to grope him in the foyer when he had tried to get away to find Sofi and perform some damage control.
He stared at the boy a moment, trying not to laugh at the fact he had not only given him his full name but included the suffix. How awkward was this kid? He was obviously young, but surely even he knew being "the second" anything wasn't something to proudly announce even if it was part of his name, and seriously, who cared about last names? Frankly, he was surprised the boy hadn't included a middle name. Unless he was saying "Vaughn" rather than "von," but whatever. He didn't care.
"Justin," he replied after a few moments. "And I'm afraid I don't remember what house or position you play. Not really my job to know faces in the game with my position, y'know?"
