Kara heard Jaleth’s voice as he spout out something like he was gonna attack and there it was.
His lips pressed against hers.
It was something she knew was going to happen, but she didn’t stop it. Why? She wasn’t exactly sure. It was something she was waiting for? Compensation for a life thrown away all those years ago? Maybe. He kissed very well, from what she could remember, and probably even moreso now, with age. All things got better with age, it seemed. Kara sunk into his hold absently throwing her arms around his neck and latching onto him. This was probably what he wanted, but she must’ve wanted it even more as she returned the kiss with equal passion and intensity that he was giving off.
Kara’s heart started to race again, her blood warming, her skin flushing immediately as she held tightly around his neck. Everything around her disappeared. Only she and Jaleth remained, on a separate plane of existence, in a world separate from the rest. Her head was spinning, all thoughts of anger from the past, worry about what Liam would think, or any urgency to get back to Casey wilted away for the time being. This was her time to admit: she missed Jaleth terribly. She wished for contact like this for many years past, and for many days to come, though foolish as it may sound. His lips tasted like heaven, the feeling of his frail hand caressing her skin almost made her faint.
One hand slinked up and tangled its scarred fingers into Jaleth’s hair, pulling herself deeper into the kiss. So much time, so much tension pent up inside her. Then it struck her. Should she really be doing this? She did have to leave this place after all, as it wasn’t safe. Then what?? Back to Casey? The real world? Where she kicked herself over and over about how much she was in love with him? The flat she returned to, empty, without company -- except for her surrogate brother Liam and now Casey, as an informant and ally? Damn. There had to be a catch, she thought.
She refused to pull away…not yet, she told herself.
