"Not much has changed, has it, Auntie?" Killian quipped as they got off the train at King's Cross Station. After seven years of living with his aunt and uncle in Bulgaria while he attended Durmstrang Institute, Killian was finally back in the good ol' U.K. again. The native Irishman looked around as they walked toward Diagon Alley and his new flat, pleased with himself that he still recognized landmarks he hadn't seen since he was ten years old. Now that Kilian was moving out on his own and finally able to enlist in the Imperium Guard (not that his rebel-loving family knew about that...), the recent graduate was rather excited.
"No, not much is changed, at least not here in the muggle city," his aunt replied, her English mangled slightly by her heavy Bulgarian accent. "But I hear the rebuilt Diagon Alley is much different now. Bigger, more shops. Now, you're sure you have everything you need, my dear?" the silver-haired woman asked as they entered the wizarding half of London.
After assuring Aunt Lorraine tat he had everything he needed and that he could find his way from there, the older woman departed to catch her train home. Killian made his way through the streets of Diagon Alley to the pub named The Abbey, where his new flat was just a block away. Entering the small apartment building, he climbed up to his floor and unlocked the door to his small flat, winking at the girl coming out of an apartment down the hall. 'Looks like a neighbor I need to get to know,' Killian thought as he entered the flat and dropped his suitcases on the couch, surveying his new home.
The small three-room apartment wasn't much, but it was his and away from his idiotic parents and siblings. The main room with its kitchenette and sitting area was the largest of the three rooms, with the tiny bathroom and bedroom off to the left. Almost everything was second-hand, but that mattered little to Killian. His aunt and uncle had generously offered to buy the apartment for their nephew as a graduation gift, and had allowed him to take their old set of furniture from the attic. As far as Killian was concerned, anything he didn't have to purchase on his own was just perfect. It was sparse but it was his, and as he set about arranging his new flat, Killian was content.
Several hours later, Killian was ready to explore his new surroundings. Deciding that money was his first priority, Killiand headed off to Gringott's to visit the vault his parents had established for him. Feeling guilty for sending their oldest son off to Bulgaria, the Riordans had set up an account for Killian's aunt and uncle to use to support him, and now that he was of age the money was rightfully his. He did have his own savings here, but why should he spend his own hard-earned money when there was so much more of his parents'? Such were his thoughts as he entered the wizard bank... and ran smack dab into someone coming out. Staggering slightly back at the impact with the other person, Killian reached out to steady himself and exclaimed, embarrassed, "Excuse me! Sorry mate, I guess I wasn't paying quite enough attention. You ok?" Catching sight of the girl standing behind the poor bloke he had just run into, Killian's jaw nearly dropped. "Lily? Bloody hell, I haven't seen you in ages!" he cried, maneuvering around the unfortunate boy to pull Lily into an exuberant embrace.
