Merlin, it was good to relax on a well-deserved day off! Basic Training for Imperium Guard trainees was over and their Placement Test had been this morning. After Basic Training, a two-month hell of 12-hour days with a half hour break in the middle, the recruits were tested to weed out the 'grunts' from those with officer potential. It was a two-part test with a 100-question written exam and a live riot simulation, and those who scored a 95 or over on each individual section, were then placed in the Officer's Program for the rest of their two years of training. Naturally, Killian had aced both parts of the test, scoring a 98/100 on the written exam and a 99/100 in the simulation. As an unexpected reward to the trainees who would be joining the officer's track, their training wouldn't resume until the 11th, so Killian had decided to celebrate his success. The only dark spot on the day had been his inability to convince Lily to come out with him.
Walking into the Three Broomsticks, Killian looked around and observed the nearly-empty pub. His little sister, Holly, was always talking about hanging out here and what a hot-spot it was, so he figured it was worth checking out. Seeing a total of 6 people, including the two barmaids, in the whole place, all thoughts of finding some drinking buddies evaporated from the boy's mind. Perhaps the pub wasn't such a hot-spot in the summer? Looking at his watch, he realized it was only half-past four, so perhaps things would pick up soon. Eyeballing the two barmaids behind the polished wooden bar, the dark-haired party-boy decided he liked the brunette more than the busty blonde. Nice rack or not, the blonde seemed kind of airheaded, and that was definitely not something Killian valued in a girl. He much preferred the ones who would tease and banter and keep his interest. Strolling up to the bar, he smiled his crooked smile and greeted the barmaids, his voice low and sexy. "Afternoon, ladies. Hope business picks up for you later; looks a bit slow," Killian quipped, glancing around the pub for effect. "Can I get a vodka on the rocks, love?" he winked at the brunette, dark eyes sparkling as he settled himself at the end of the bar.
