August 25th, 2011
Rain clouds hovered over head and thunder crackled, threatening a down pour that wasn't so uncommon to the country of England. It was a little early in the year for rain but that had never stopped the weather before and surely wouldn't stop it now.
A seventeen year old with black hair ran down the alleyway, swerving around people as she charged towards her favorite shop. She had been doing last minute shopping in many of the -dark and rather creepy- shops and was finally coming to the one she saved for last. One that she actually didn't have the need to visit at all. Repositioning her tote bag's shoulder strap Nikki finally stopped for breath under the familiar sign:
The rest of the words were difficult to make out but no less everyone who was familiar with the area knew it as the local wand shop.
Pulling open the creaky door the soon to be seventh year student called out into the seemingly empty shop. "Solokov? Are you in today?" The moment the question left her mouth she thought it was rather stupid to ask. Of could the wand maker would be in when it was only two days before the train for Hogwarts left right? With that thought in mind Nikki grinned at the many boxes of wands, her own hand going to the wand in her back jeans pocket. She had been chosen by the wand her just six years back, before she understood her fascination with wand lore. Back then she only saw the wand as her first step to being a wizard like the rest of her family and nothing more. Now she could only wonder why she never asked questions, dived into the arts of wands for more knowledge.
Her young self was left forgotten however when a woman of Russian decent climbed down the stairs from the upper level of the shop. A smile beamed on the Gryffindor's face however was whipped clean when the woman shooed her out the door. Confusion sat on her face as her dark brown, almost black, eyes watched the woman she knew as Sezja Solokov climb back up the stairs and out of view.
"Solokov never kicks me out!" huffed the raven haired teenager in mock anger. Turning back to the street Nikki was confused as what to do. She had rushed her school shopping so she could spend as much time as she could with her idol (and wanna be mentor but the lady refused to teach her a thing unless she showed good grades on the N.E.W.T.S she'd be taking this year at school). Kicking a rock with the converse shoe on her right foot she brooded over how to spend the rest of her evening.
