He outright laughed at Jasper’s quip, considering it did probably hold a small bit of truth to it. Sure he hadn’t been on a broom in a bit, but it was just like walking right? It wouldn’t take more than 10 seconds to get back in the swing of things. ”Ah but your words cut deep Jas, if I didn’t know any better I would almost think you just called me a relic… I suppose that would make you beyond ancient then?” he joked back sarcastically before turning his attention back to Gideon and his comment about his ego. ”Hey now, leave my poor overinflated ego out of this!”
His grinned widened as Jasper went on to tell them about his exploits as a ‘terror on the field’ and Dres couldn’t hold back the chuckle that escaped when the man went on to tell them how he knocked on of the keepers through the hoop. It was a scenario he could relate too since it had happened to him when an opposing chaser had collided with him and quite literally sent them both flying. Such was the nature of the game, and why they had competent medical staff around. At Gideon’s query, Dres could only shrug. She might have originally been in his year, more than likely the game they were all trying to remember was during the time he was away from Hogwarts. ”She might have been, though I don’t recall ever having met her or played with her. Maybe she played the year I missed?”
"Ancient?!" Jasper exclaimed in mock-indignation. "I think not, sir!" he added with a chuckle. Old indeed! He was only thirty-two, for Merlin's sake! Jas smirked as Dresden went on to harass Gideon about picking on his ego. "Aww, but you make it such an easy target, mate!" he teased, shoving his colleague good-naturedly. If things kept going as smoothly as they had been, Jasper felt certain the three of them would become good friends, and he was sure Dresden and Gideon would never treat him the way his 'friends' has over the years, he thought bitterly, memories of his lost fiancee coming unbidden to his mind.
It was his friends' faults that things had gone the way they had all those years ago with his family and Erica. Whether that was truly the case or not, Jasper didn't care; he blamed the rat bastards anyway. If they had just stopped with the snooty pureblood crap for five minutes and gotten to know Erica, he would be married happily and probably a father by now. Taking a deep breath to calm the rage that threatened to ruin his day, Jasper took a long sip of his tea and tried to appear as though his thoughts hadn't taken a dark turn. Hopefully his colleagues wouldn't notice or would decide to just ignore it...

Ah Gideon had missed the friendly banter he was now experiencing with Dresden and Jasper, it seemed an aged since he'd experienced anything like it. The oblivaitors he'd worked along side would never be considered "friends" - all pureblood elitists who enjoyed modifying muggle parent's so they didn't remember their magical children... Personally? Gideon had loathed every second, and was still haunted by the teary faces at night. You still did it... A cruel little voice reminded him. It was true as well, completely. It wasn't even as if he'd stood by and allowed it to happen, no he'd actually been involved, he'd held the wand and cast the spells. And he wondered why there was times he couldn't look himself in the mirror?
He mentally shook himself in an attempt to pull himself out of a rut. There would be plenty time for the self loathing later. "Poor Dresden... Are we picking on you?" Gideon smirked at his old friend, knowing full well he could take the jokes without being offended or crumbling, Dresden was made of far stronger stuff than that. "But it might have been that year, I don't really remember... I mean, school was a while ago. All the years have kind of rolled into one... You know what I mean?"

”I do not!” he shot back with a grin when Jasper told him he made an easy target, rocking slightly when the man gave him a friendly shove. The three of them seemed to get along quite well and Dres couldn’t help but think Jasper fit right in. The man knew how to have fun, could give as good as he got, and was a Quidditch nut just like Gideon and him. Hogwarts wouldn’t know what hit it! Dresden chuckled at the thought. ”And poor Dresden is right, Gideon! It’s two against one here!” he said with a chuckle at Gideon’s added jab. ”Keep this up and you might hurt my overly sensitive feelings.” As if. He was made of much stronger stuff then that.
He continued to sip on his tea as Gideon went on to state that he didn’t know the former player and that the years had kind of all run into each other. It was only when a comfortable silence had descended, did he notice Jasper seemed to be deep in thought. Curiosity now peaked, Dres couldn’t stop himself from asking what was up, if anything was up at all. ”Something on your mind Jas?”
