How long had it been now since Azkaban? A month, two? And how long had he been there? Ezra had no idea. He'd lost count of those hours a long time ago. Of course he knew about Dementors, just like every other child who studied magic, but being guarded by them 24/7? You could never be prepared for something like that. They pushed their way inside your head and sucked out every happy memory from your life, what had been left? Pain, anger and resentment - all of which were either directed at himself or his brother.
The brother who he'd turned too for help, expecting the rivalry they'd experienced as children too have passed - only to have Daniel turn him into his superiors.
Ezra shifted on the hard bunk angrily, trying his best to get his younger brother's sneering face out of his mind's eye.
So long Golden boy... So great, now he was hearing that sneering voice. He rolled over on his hard bunk, now facing the locked door, it probably wasn't even a complex charm keeping it secure. If he only had his wand he could be out of here in seconds, but that had been the first thing to be taken from him, shortly followed by his freedom and almost his insanity. Perhaps being moved here was his only stoke of luck, because he was finally away from the Dementors and had his mind back. Which was a bad move for them, because Ezra was thinking like an Auror again and he'd be damned if he was going to be in this cell for the rest of his life - or worse.
How much longer would they keep him alive for before they needed the cell? So far they'd kept him in an effort too squeeze the locations of the other escaped Aurors from him, it was just a pity Ezra had no idea. He hadn't told them yet, on the contrary he had said absolutely nothing. But they'd get bored eventually, finally just stick a wand in his face and end it.
He'd have to get out before that could ever happen... He just needed to find a way....
