(NOTE: This thread is closed for the time being. Those who need to reply know who they are, but once the events planned happen it may be opened to all attending the engagement ball. Thanks!)
As she was forcibly led to her uncle's library, Lily could barely smile politely at the guests they passed. When Lance came up to her and her uncle she was almost glad her uncle had a hold of her arm; at least then the curse wouldn't affect her. The last thing she needed was to go flying across the room or be screaming in pain because Lance wanted to make a good show and offer congratulations. She had almost wished he wouldn't show up, but in her heart she had known better. Lance was far too stubborn to give up without making some show of his defiance.
When the door of the library closed and locked behind her, Lily started violently, rudely shaken from her thoughts. The look on her uncle's face was one she was all-too-familiar with: pure malice. The petite brunette's mind reeled trying to come up with a reason for Lionel's sudden mood, but she was utterly clueless. For the past two weeks she had been too busy helping to plan this farce of an engagement that she hadn't been able to see or communicate with Lance, so she knew her uncle couldn't have found them out.
As Lionel turned and opened his desk drawer, Lily mentally scrambled for something to get her out of whatever her uncle had in mind for her. She figured there was no way she could take the man in a duel, and she knew the library windows were charmed to be unbreakable; the man was crazy enough to think of everything. When her uncle slapped a folder down onto the desk hard enough to make her flinch, Lily felt her heart drop. The pictures that came next were as good as a death sentence for her...
'At least if he kills me, I won't have to marry Ian...' she thought just before her world exploded in a fiery haze of pain.
