-------------------------------------------------------------------
PATRONUS: Chase’s patronus, should he need to use the spell, takes the form of a Komodo Dragon.
BOGGART: Chase is cold and empty and not readily plagued by fears. However, there is one thing that he does fear, whether he would admit it or not: Purposelessness. Without a purpose or cause for Chase to blindly follow, Chase is nothing. He fears the nothingness and emptiness within himself without a force to drive him forward.
MIRROR OF ERISED: Chase’s wish is for a strict order in life. He desires a purpose, a master to follow, and instructions on what to do. This could take the form of the resurrection of his former master, Voldemort, but isn’t necessarily limited to it.
HABITS: When dealing with superiors, Chase has a habit of showing undying respect and obedience in a variety of bodily manners. When just bored, he will often meditate by staring blankly into space, an empty and hollow look on his face.
PET PEEVE: Disrespect and impudence by others toward their superiors or betters annoys Chase greatly. He usually won’t stand for it and swiftly deals with the issue.
STRENGTHS:
• Driven. If there’s one thing Chase does well, it’s getting things done. If something is asked of him, he does it. No matter what personal cost may occur, Chase will ensure that any task at hand is completed. He is extremely focused and is reliable at getting things accomplished.
• Dark Arts. Chase is well versed in the use of the Dark Arts, having served many years as a Death Eater. His lack of any compassion or remorse for others is an asset to this end. Torture and killing are just simple matters to him and means to an end.
WEAKNESSES:
• Extreme. Chase’s fanaticism and devotion toward serving the purpose of the Dark Lord have left him rather extreme in many of his manners and points of views. This also makes him unbendable and nearly impossible to change.
• Nearly Mindless. While obviously Chase still has his own free will, his devotion to servitude has practically made him a mindless drone to a cause. He does as he is told without question, no matter how it may affect himself or others.
TRAITS:
Chase was devoutly loyal to Lord Voldemort to the point of fanaticism. He would have done absolutely anything for his master willingly and without question. His servitude to Voldemort was not about cowardliness or lust for power but was a true service to him and all that he stood for. This unquestionable loyalty has led him to become extreme in all of his views and practices.
Chase is completely cold and merciless, devoid of almost any emotions. He can be viewed as more or less a machine, doing as he is told with no second thought. He cannot tolerate insolence or disrespect and his wrath is quick and severe. Thus it can be said that he has a short temper when it comes to such matters. He has been driven beyond the point at which change is possible. His personality stays constant and true at the expense of his own self identity. Without his mission, that of serving Voldemort, he is an empty shell of a person. This is why, after failing to revive Voldemort, he simply transposed the ideal of Voldemort over to Trevor Williams rather than accept the reality of his fate. Chase really has nothing of his own: no true likes or dislikes, no fears outside of a lack of purpose, and no true happiness. He is a broken soul whose only meaning in life is derived from his own self driven devotion.

HISTORY:
Chase Downing is a half-blood, born to a muggle father and a pure-blood witch. His father was abusive and controlling, his mother submissive and weak. His father maintained a strict code around the house and frequently beat both Chase and his mother. Only when his letter for Hogwarts arrived did he find out anything about the wizarding world at all; his mother had kept the fact that she was a witch from his father, probably out of fear of what he would do to her if he found out she had that kind of power. For once in her life she stood up for her son and begged and pleaded for Chase to be sent Hogwarts, even though she kept its true purpose hidden from her husband. She assured him the school instilled obedience and respect – the very qualities he desired in his son. After giving her one of the worst floggings of her life for daring to speak up to him, he conceded to this school she suggested and allowed him to go. So his mother somehow managed to gather all that he would need, and Chase was able to finally fulfill his true purpose within the power that is magic. Unfortunately, the emotional damage had already been done.
Chase was an empty shell of a person. Quiet, secluded, cold, and spiteful, he spoke only when spoken to, and made no friends. He was sorted into Slytherin, did well in most classes, and little else could be said of his time at the school. It was uneventful except for the glamour of that Potter boy in the year below him. Chase despised him and all that he stood for; he showed no respect for anyone or anything and walked around with his pride sticking a mile out. That being said, he didn’t care for much anyone else – the people with Potter and many against him as well.
Chase isn’t sure what first attracted him to the Dark Lord; perhaps a want for belonging and serving, a desire for a sense of purpose in life. The instant he was out of school, he sought out and served Voldemort for an entire year during his second rising. There was, however, one final snag before Chase could feel that he could entirely devote all of his obligations to Voldemort; a loose end to tie up, so to speak.
He remembers that night better than any other. The air was crisp; a storm had begun to brew. Chase had not returned to his home since he graduated from Hogwarts and this night would be the last. He blew open the door from his home, searching out his father. He blasted him straight through a wall the second he found him; his father then trembled in fear, cowering in his own blood. Chase had never felt so livid or alive. It was then that his mother rushed forward and grabbed his arm, begging him to stop. He was disgusted with her and the fact that she would sink to defend this piece of filth after all he had done to them. He quickly killed her then proceeded onto his father. By the time his father had been obliterated and the house came crashing down behind Chase, the storm had peaked with lightning and a heavy downpour. Chase left the scene with the same stone cold face he entered it, but had never felt more satisfied in his life as the rain poured down upon him.
After that Chase devoutly served Voldemort, becoming one of his most loyal servants. Unfortunately after a year, Voldemort fell to that damned Potter boy once more and Chase was forced to retreat to the shadows and try to find his master from there. He was caught in the process though, convicted of his many murders and crimes for his Lord, and sentenced to Azkaban, dementor’s kiss impending. The wait for this punishment was long however, and he found himself in Azkaban for three years. The dementors had little effect on him though – he was already emotionless as it was and they had little to feed on. It was after those three years that Voldemort was revived once more, and he saw to it that his loyal followers were freed. Chase might have been jealous of Malfoy who had revived Voldemort, if he ever deigned to such petty emotions. No, now he could bask in his master’s glory once more and all would tremble before him. Alas, yet once more he was defeated, but this time Chase got away.
For eight years Chase sought out and learned of his Master. Voldemort had never told anyone of his secrets which made it harder for Chase to think of ways to revive him. He learned everything of the Horcruxes, but all in vain as that damned Potter had seen to it that they were destroyed. But finally, after all those years of searching, traveling, and learning, Chase finally discovered one final way to revive his lord. As it turned out, one final fragment of Voldemort's soul was still left in existence. While not enough to constitute a horcrux, it was enough to be able to bring him back, albeit in a much more difficult fashion. However, before Chase could test out his theory, he needed the means to achieve his end. For this he needed an ancient book of dark power, Eversio et Pario, or Creation and Destruction. With it he believed he could create a brand new soul for Voldemort in combination with the fragment.
First, though, he needed the book. After a year of dead ends and fruitless searching, he began to grow desperate. Finally, he hit a lucky break when tipped off by Trevor Williams. As it turned out, a fellow Death Eater, Callid Warren, had unknowingly obtained the book at some point and stored it within his vast library. Chase proceeded to steal it, obtaining exactly what he needed on the very night that Trevor's plan took its first step forward in motion.
After the night he obtained the book, Chase began enacting his plot to bring back Voldemort. In all of the places for Voldemort's soul fragment to be, it was ironically attached to Harry Potter himself. Chase had come to realize this as he learned of the creation of horcruxes in combination with his own personal history and knowledge. He captured Potter so that he could rip the piece of Voldemort's soul from his and then begin the ritual that would recreate Voldemort anew.
This ritual could be loosely translated into "The Seven Sacrifices". Seven important figures, representative of the person being recreated, needed to make a sacrifice in a specific way. Each sacrifice would add more strength and power into a growing entity; not truly a soul and thus not a ghost, but neither alive nor dead either. The closer in relation the sacrifce was to Voldemort, the more powerful the effect. Unfortunately, in the process of splitting Potter's soul, something went wrong. The horrific magic was just too powerful to control and rather than severing Potter's soul, he twisted it. He transformed him into an indescribable entity. Living but not - a corpse that would not die on its own.
Chase flew into a rage at his own failure. While the potential to replicate the spell remained, it was pointless without being able to control the magic. He had to serve his master, he had to. In a craze, he lost it. If he couldn't serve Voldemort, he would serve the closest embodiment of his master - Trevor Williams. He more or less transposed Voldemort onto Williams, and approached him. After proving his loyalty he was given a position within the Imperium Guard, an elite group of soldiers that serve Williams. They were not without their flaws however. High end prisoners were allowed to escape under their watch, and Chase had the task of punishing those responsible harshly. Chase one day hopes to revisit his former plan to revive Voldemort, but for the time being he needs to improve his skills, and the plan remains toward the back of his mind.
