NOTE: This will only apply after the sitewide plot has taken off. Please see the thread "Question," which should be unstickied in this board and viewable in the announcements, to answer an important question as to when we will make this happen.
Some of us have been RP-ing for years, some of us only for months. Either way, I believe all of us have noticed how when a plot gets started, it's extremely tempting to jump ahead a little bit if you know what's supposed to happen in the thread you're in--especially if the follow-up thread is within the playable dates.
However, I've noticed when this happens, the old thread tends to drag on and drag on and never be finished or be finished years later. I'm guilty of it. After nearly seven years of RP-ing, I've had my fair share of that happen and be caused by me.
I don't know about you guys, but I really, really don't want to see that happen here. Upon last count, we had 93 abandoned threads on this site. We don't want to add to this and see this plot not fleshed out properly, no?
Due to this, Sub and I have discussed the issue of pacing at a prior date. When we spoke about it, we came to the conclusion we would make only a week playable at a time. When we notice threads start winding down, we will move on to the next week. If we find ourselves stuck in the same week after a month, we may go ahead and supersede that idea and move ahead a week anyway. However, we're hoping things will get going and move faster than that, which is why in the other thread I was trying to figure out when is a good time to start things for people. Threads skipping ahead will be locked and then unlocked when things move ahead.
With this, sometimes an IC week will go by really slowly and, other times, an IC week will go by really fast. It really depends on how much important stuff is going on in a given IC week, too. If we have a bunch of sammich (or fluff or filler, whatever you'd like to call them) threads in an IC week, we may move ahead despite those not being finished. Why? In hopes of keeping the plot moving. If there are a ton of meatier threads, the IC week will probably last a little longer as those threads would be the sort that need to be completed for anything else to make sense.
Does this make sense/sound good to people? Don't be afraid to voice your opinion as we do want to know it.
