Dres grinned at Milo’s week smile and mutter off a quick apology, not having meant to scare his younger friend. Merlin he sounded horrible. ”Well I don’t have much that could help you now, but I do have this,” he started as he reached into his robe and fished around a moment for a small vile before pulling it out and handing it to Milo. ”That should help you out at least temporarily, maybe even let you enjoy the night for a bit. I didn’t brew it so it’s good stuff, honest!” Dres couldn’t hold in a chuckle at that, since it was well known (at least amongst those who he had gone to school with) that his talent with Dark Arts and Defense did not extend to the potion department.
He reached over to his glass and brought it to his lips, grimacing slightly at the taste. Merlin, leave it to the students to not waste any time in getting the party started. Absently he wondered who had been brave enough to spike the punch bowl this year… probably Slytherin… they had gained a reputation for being a party house… though he wouldn’t have put it past Gryffindor either, or his own house. Not that he was going to rain on anyone’s parade. He took another sip before setting the glass down. Let them have their fun.
He didn't even bother to hide a smirk. Well, someone was certainly feeling snarky today. His eyes shifted back and forth between Justin and Summer as they bantered. And yet him and Summer were the ones Justin said to quit it? He folded his arms across his torso as Justin suggested they use magic. Ryder nodded. "Besides, I reckon we're already on Witte's suspicious list. Getting close enough for it would be too risky." Fooling two professors wasn't exactly the smartest idea. He wasn't even sure if it was possible. Waiting for an opening was definitely the plan he supported. Besides, a distraction could mean all manner of things, and he wasn't exactly keen on being jerked along for another ride.
He remained silent for the next moment they went back and forth, shrugging slightly. It was only when Summer said that they should get going that he had to stifle a laugh. It only got better when Justin didn't react the same way. He reached up to hide his smile, brushing it off as he glanced away. "Honestly," was his only response before he watched the Hufflepuff take off. His eyes moved back to Summer. "We're all in this. That doesn't mean it's quite the normal sort of thing. Don't want to be too suspicious, do we?" Another bout of laughter left him. He was about to saunter away when he realized that his excuse for walking away from Pandora was that Summer undoubtedly wanted a dance. How to play that one off painlessly? Ugh, the last thing he needed was to draw any more interest to their little scheme.
He mulled the thought over slightly. "Want to dance?" he casually offered. It was strange enough to see the two of them around each other, but it was becoming a more regular occurrence. Unfortunately. But, hey, she was the little sister of one of his friends. That wasn't too weird, was it? He dropped his voice, smiling as he spoke so onlookers would think it was just any other conversation. "Besides, that way if one of us misses a signal, the other can catch it. And we can move around a little more than if we just wandered in circles." Ryder ran a hand through his hair, finishing off by flipping it and giving her a cocky grin. Mine as well play it up.
Now where had Justin gone to? He cast a look around before spotting McDowell, picking up some food. Well, at least he wasn't doing anything odd. In fact, that was probably the most normal thing he could have done. He turned his body slightly so he could get a look of the table the two professors were at as well as the seventh year. Things were starting to fall into place. Finally. Spiked punch and now this clever little plan. This was going to be quite the Yule Ball. He had just glanced away for a moment when Justin must have started to get it ready. Of course, Ryder O'Callaghan would be the one to miss any gesturing.

This won't stop 'til I say so
Summer hummed noncommittally. Of course, but still. Just because they didn't normally hang out together, didn't mean that they couldn't. Surely the school had seen enough of her and Ryder together to assume something and Justin was her cousin. Perhaps she wasn't being the logical one at all, if all her ideas and attempts were resulting in those sort of reactions. Odd, for once, but she did slowly and rather reluctantly release her reigns on this plan even more.
At Ryder's question, she grinned and slid an arm around his waist, slipping one of the vials in there. "Oh, Ryder, I thought you'd never ask. You did promise," she said, coyly. It would be worth it for the look of alarm on his face. He continued and she shrugged a nonverbal agreement. See? She was getting better at this letting others take the lead thing. If only she could sock that cocky grin off his face.
Dancing with him wasn't that bad. He didn't try to cop a feel as she'd seen him do before, but then again, she was Summer Leighton, younger sister to his ex-girlfriend and second cousin to his other almost girlfriend. Shame. She wanted to have an excuse to stomp on his foot, claim she was clumsy. Too bad he was about as good a dancer as she was and the treading of toes didn't seem to be likely to happen.
She glanced over Ryder's shoulder as they turned and saw what he just missed. So Justin got his target already, hm? Which... oh. Professor Faust. Well, she supposed it was sort of fair, in the nature of things. Revenge for being caught by Witte. "Justin's got Faust," she whispered, switching her gaze to the refreshments table. Ah, and there was the gulp. Well, now it was their turn. "Ryder, I'm kind of hungry. You want something to drink?" She tried to keep her words as normal as possible, but nerves were starting to get to her, bringing out the proper upbringing her mother had instilled in her.
She let go of his shoulder and started towards the table, close to the two professors as she could. There still wasn't any sign of Professor Gideon, but oh well. Two is better than nothing. She turned her back to the profs but kept Witte's goblet in view. She palmed her wand, holding it close to her arm so that only a centimeter extended itself past her pointer finger. Muttering under her breath while grabbing a mini quiche and those mini sausages with her other hand, she cast the spell that siphoned the potion in her pocket to the goblet she saw. Well, now. That wasn't so difficult, was it. Summer turned her head and raised an eyebrow at Ryder. Mission accomplished.

They picked tonight, tonight to send him out. SAVIOUR had been wary of the flying coach given his status as ex ministry, which made gaining the organisation's trust more difficult. It had only been recently they'd truly began trusting him - and tonight they'd had a job. The owl had arrived early yesterday morning which had left Gideon cursing. Any other night he could have made his excuses to Dresden and Milo to retreat up to his room under the pretence of being "tired" and slip out of the castle - it would have been simple. Tonight though, really?? The night of the Yule ball where his presence would not only be noticed but commented on... Damn it.
Gideon apperated as close to the school as he could and ran the rest of the way. He wouldn't have said the rescue had gone tits up, but the earlier surveillance hadn't said anything about an extra night guard. The teenage slave had been waiting for Gideon as per instructed but had been forced to run before the man had arrived. Damned night guards. As a result the whole operation had been pushed back around an hour. In the end though the uplift had been completed. The proffessor had found the young girl cowering back in her quarters. They had been far nicer than any slave holdings he'd seen in the passed. Carpets, curtains, a large double bed with silk sheets. There had been shackles linked to the bed posts, which had caused the penny to finally drop. Oh shit... A pretty young girl kept in a well furnished bedroom of a single Death Eater... The fucker. Gideon had wrapped the girl in a long dark cloak, partly for the cold out side and partly to keep her face covered, and apperated out. The hand of too another SAVIOUR member had gone smoothly, but by this point he was late. With any luck no one would notice.
Gideon straightened his tie of his black dress robes as he hurried along the halls and slipped into the Great hall. Everything was in full swing, excellent. Perhaps his friends would be distracted enough by the dance not to miss him. After a moment of looking he spotted Dresden and headed over.
"Professor Faust, where have you been hiding yourself this evening?"

His eyes continued to wander over the current festivities and all the students that were enjoying them as he continued to walk with Addie. Where they were going he had no idea, though he was sure that his date probably had something in mind. And it seemed he wasn’t about to be disappointed in that regard. Subaru blinked confusedly when she quick stepped to get in front of him and grab his other hand. What was she doing? Next thing he knew he was being pulled along with her toward the dance floor. Oh hell no! If she thought he was going to dance...
"C'mon, Sub! You're gonna dance.
Merlin help him! He didn’t know how to dance! He resisted, digging his feet in, in that Addie would just give up. A for a swift few seconds he thought she had when she released on of his hands. He turned, thinking to make a fast get away only to have her now fee hand close around his forearm in a rather tight grip. She was totally being serious! ”Addie, you can’t- I can’t.. I don’t know how!” The younger Slytherin protested weakly even though he knew full well she wouldn’t accept that as an answer. She was determined, and he soon found himself out in the middle of the dance floor and with no idea of what to do. Subaru cast Addie a slight glare before mumbling something about how ‘fetching punch would be far preferable to dancing’ when he was plowed into by someone from behind, which normally wouldn’t have been too much of an issue except for the fact that he was pushed headlong into his date. Oh Merlin someone kill him now...

"Nonsense! Just gotta find the beat and move your hips!" Addie insisted, pulling with all her might until she had Subaru with her in the middle of the already crowded floor. Why it was that some idiotically-dressed girl managed to decide to try to walk through the middle of a dance floor without seeming to dance, she had no clue, but she didn't really give a damn. Girl probably had lost track of where the mosh had ended and the dancing had begun. She had bumped into someone when Subaru had bumped into her, but that was how things went out here. The person behind her barely gave her more than a glance and she him before she was grabbing Subaru to help right him, not even giving the girl a second glance.
She grinned at him. "Honestly, Sub! Haven't even gotten to the quaffle yet and already making for the snitch! I thought you'd know better," she teased, shaking her head before grinning a little wickedly and turning so her back was to him and grabbing his hands in an attempt to place them on her hips. "Just follow my lead. It'll be fun, I promise!" she insisted before calling out a, "Woo!" with the fangirls around the area as she put her hands up in the air and began to move a little to the music.
What was she on about? Ryder was focused on trying to sneakily watch Justin, before he realized Summer was walking away. Standing in the middle of the floor like an idiot could be suspicious. He nodded slightly, feigning interest as he followed her over to the refreshments. He fell silent as he scoped over the food and beverages, his eyes still darting about to try and detect the third Professor they intended to have as a victim. The other two had done the deed, hadn’t they? It hadn’t been too complex of a process. A small frown tugged at his lips. That left him to follow suit, but where was his mark? His brow creased slightly as he turned to face the two Professors, a cup in his hand.
His other hand was close to his side, wand in place, ready to make a move. The sixth year nearly tripped over himself when Professor Conleth entered. There! The third professor! It took a moment before he calmed himself enough to not attract attention. This was the one time he had zero desire to do so. He frowned slightly again before glancing over at Summer, trying to draw up an elaborate smile. “Darling.” His voice didn’t match his facial expression in that one word. There was a moment of panic drawing up inside him. He quickly shifted his tone to something a little more casual and suave. “Our friend doesn’t have a goblet yet, does he?” The Gryffindor wasn’t sure if the professor had been there the whole time and he just hadn’t noticed, or maybe he truly was late. He hadn’t been tracking the poor man.
He rose his own cup to his lips, managing another quick look around. Maybe he had one and Ryder just couldn’t see it. Maybe he really didn’t. Offering the man a goblet of punch would be incredibly conspicuous. But he needed to make a move and fact. Otherwise, the potion may have already started to take effect. He wasn’t entirely sure how long his rapidly-shrinking window was still open. He flicked his other wrist, ready to siphon he potion. It would work. It had to work. And even if it didn’t, well, two out of three wasn’t bad. “Perhaps, I need to move a little more.” That was vague code for getting closer. He moved down the table in the direction of the table all three professors were at, eyes drifting between people and the surfaces of the tables. Merlin, this would happen to him. The other two would get the potion out as easily as possible and he’d be stuck with the professor who had only just arrived with his friends. Were they friends? He tended to think that most of them all hung around each other, at least the ones similar in age. Ryder shook his head before casting another glance over at them, ready to pounce at the first opportunity. The last thing he wanted to deal with was them – ugh – sharing goblets or something like that. He couldn’t cram it down anyone’s throat. That wouldn’t work.

He turned absolutely fifty-shades of red at Addie’s comment about going for the snitch as she helped him get himself back in order. For the love of- Did she have to say that here? With everyone around? Wasn’t it bad enough she was making him stand out here in the first place? Not that he had time to say anything to the girl that had run into him or voice his opinion to Addie. Her devilsh smirk froze the words in his mouth and before he realized what was going on she had her back to him, his hands in hers, and then… oh god, they were on her hips- her hips! And he was supposed to just go with the flow? There was no way he could do that! And then she was moving, and then he was moving even though he really had no idea what he was doing, and that meant they were moving... the pair of them! He seriously hoped his fellow Slytherin knew what she was doing. Maybe she was right and he just needed to relax… heh, easier said than done, especially with all the other bodies closing in around them. He didn’t do crowds on a good day and this just made themso much worse…

"Well, I don't have much that could help you now, but I do have this...." Milo looked at him questioningly, but his look quickly became skeptical. This was Dresy here. He might be brilliant, but his brilliance didn't exactly veer in the direction of potions. Last time he'd tested one of Dresy's, it had tasted absolutely awful and not worked on top of that. Regardless of his skepticism, he began to unscrew it. Surely nothing could get worse, right? A little bad taste quickly washed down by the currently semi-tasteless punch and all that could happen was nothing or he'd feel a little better. Then again, if Dresden brewed this.... Milo began to screw the cap back on only to be reassured by Dresden. "...I didn't brew it, so it's good stuff, honest!"
Milo quickly unscrewed it and downed it. "Whad is id?" he asked after downing the stuff with a disgusted face to match it. "Tase lie-guh rodden egghhuhs." He grabbed his cup and downed it quickly before grabbing another cup off a passing by slave's tray. "Dank you," he said absently before downing that, too, his taste buds not bothering to alert him to the alcohol. Little did he know that such a thing would play part in his quick response to what he had just downed.
His taste buds quelled for the moment, Milo sighed and sat back, sniffling a little and groaning as he let his head fall back a little. This was awful.
"Professor Faust, where have you been hiding yourself this evening?" The sound of another man's voice made Milo jump, looking up toward the source of the voice. Ah, Gideon.
"Whadam I? Rodden egghhuh?" A groan. Hopefully that stuff worked soon.

Addie glanced over her shoulder at him, her hands lifting her hair from her neck and resting on her head a few moments as she moved her hips, backing up a little closer. Yes, she was having a little fun, testing his limits, seeing just how true this whole thing was that he had fed her back on the night of the Halloween Ball. She still had a hard time believing it even after all this time. She'd heard of someone not being interested in others in that fashion before, but it was so odd to think it was really true. But hey, a guy she could hang around and not have to worry about pressure of any sort despite her telling them about her own preferences if they got a little too push could be handy. But on top of that, it was part of the fun of dancing. Subaru just needed to learn to relax and go with the flow. He looked downright panicked.

”Healing draught,” he replied easily to Milo’s query, ”Supposed to cure all types of ailments right down to the common cold. Works on kids so it should work on you… even if it tastes as bad as you say, it’s got to be better than anything I could make.” The last was said with a chuckle as he raised his glass to his friend in a mock salute before downing a good portion of his drink. Dres nodded in response to Milo’s rough sounding thank-you but didn’t get much further than that when a familiar sounding voice cut through the dull roar of the ball.
"Professor Faust, where have you been hiding yourself this evening?"
A grin split the professor’s face. But what was all this about hiding? He’d been here the whole time! Dres looked up at his good friend and gave him a playful elbow to the gut, laughing as Milo chimed in about being a rotten egg when Gid passed on saying hello to him. ”I haven’t been hiding anywhere you pratt! If anything it was you who has been hiding. Did you forget we were supposed to meet up earlier? You have a surprise date with your broom or something?” Of course Dres was just bugging his friend, figuring the man had simply forgotten. He motioned a free chair at the table. ”Feel free to join and stay awhile fly boy.”

"Whadam I? Rodden egghhuh?"
Gideon laughed, slapping Milo on the shoulders as he stood behind him. Honestly the SAVIOUR member wanted nothing more than to go hide in his room and come to term with the sick part of the world he'd seen tonight. No time for that though, he'd been warned about rousing suspicion, so tonight he had a part to play. So instead he plastered a smile on his face, ruffled the Arithmancy professor's hair. "How could I ever forget you, Milo? I saw you earlier, but you seemed engrossed in conversation so I left you too it..." That was a bluff of course, Gideon had only got back to the Castle 15 minutes before.
As the Dark arts began questioning his friend Gideon knew he had to think on his feet. Dresden was nothing if not the inquisative sort. How on earth could he have forgotten they were supposed to meet for drinks in Dresden's rooms. Damn it... But flying... That seemed like a good excuse as anything else. "Well, when needs must. Sometimes you just get the flying itch ya'know? Gideon ran a hand through his hair. "Sorry about that mate..." He sat down in the chair indicated by Dresden and only a moment later swiped his drink and downed half the contents "So what we drinking?"

The slap on the back made Milo jump. He might be awake and aware, but the haze that accompanied colds always made that sort of thing jarring. He straightened his bow tie to recover. Milo rose a brow at Gideon's statement he'd seen him earlier, but he didn't say anything. He'd only been out for meals today, and even then, he'd hardly been talking. The rest of the day he'd spent in his bed snuggled under the nice toasty warm covers. Maybe the man was talking opposites or something crazy like that. Never knew with people, really. Things sometimes seemed funny when they weren't and the like.
Milo sniffled as Dresden took over conversation and listened quietly, his chuckle at Dresden's broom quip turning into a bit of a coughing fit and a rushed, "Sorwy," to avoid interrupting conversation too much. Seemed the man had missed a meeting with Dresden, and Milo had nothing to say. At the question, Milo rose his empty glass. "Punch," he replied. "Was. An' healing draught." He sniffled again before subconsciously dragging his sleeve along the bottom of his nose--something he hadn't done in years.

This won't stop 'til I say so
Huh. Wow. The appearance of Professor Conleth surprised her. She was about to nudge Ryder into action when she saw the professor join their two marks. She gripped Ryder's arm to stop him from doing anything. If she knew anything about close friends, it was that they tended to share drinks. Her eyes sparkled when she saw him do just that. "Oh, look, Ryder-dear. Looks like your job has been done for you," she said gleefully. Oh man, that was wonderful. But they needed to get rid of the last vial somehow. If he was caught with that, the professors would definitely suspect her next. Justin was more likely to be left out, but then again, given his own pranking history and DC's disappearance, they may question him.
"Shall we rejoin Justin? He may be a bit lonely without us." Or it may be better for them to stay away, congregating would cause suspicion, but they were so far away from each other. It would be difficult to coordinate plans with the distance. She pouted in her mind, then became momentarily distracted by the smells of food. Plotting made her hungry. Summer picked up her plate and snagged a few more appetizers. Another cup of spiked pumpkin juice, water it down with water, and she was good to go. Looking at Ryder again, she raised an eye and popped a mini quiche into her mouth.

Subaru didn’t miss the glace she gave him over her shoulder before raising her arms in some sort of dance move he assumed. He offered her a shy smile in hopes that it proved he was trying to enjoy himself, though he doubted Addie would buy it. Whatever. At least in his mind he was trying. And then she was backing up into him, close enough that they were touching and he could feel her every move. If this was her idea of trying to get him to relax she was doing the exact opposite. You didn’t move like that against a guy for the heck of it. All that would lead to considering he wasn’t interested in the slightest was a possible embarrassing situation for him. Just because he wasn’t interested didn’t mean certain things would share the same sentiment. He was a guy after all. That said, he took half a step back to re-establish a buffer zone and since he still had his hands on her hips, Subaru pushed her forward a bit. If she wanted him to play then she was going to play by his rules. It was bad enough she had dragged him here in the first place.
