Note: I got permission from Orion to power-play in this post, in order to move the plot along!
Kira sat on her bed, all the way back in the corner farthest from the edge, her knees propped up in front of her with her dress tugged down between her legs so that she wasn't improperly exposed. Her thighs were showing, but they were mostly covered lower down by her long socks, and the upper portions were covered by the dress' skirt still, so she didn't consider this to be a problem.
She wasn't really sure what to do at the moment, since the others were all spread out, discussing things in small groups, their voices so low that she had to strain her ears to catch even a few words. Fang sat in the chair that belonged with the desk, though he had it tipped up against the wall, one foot propped up on the edge of the desk as he, apparently, waited in much a similar to the way Kira was. She wanted to go over to him, to sit in his lap and rest her head on his shoulder for comfort, but she wasn't sure how he would take it.... or how the others would.
Sofi was talking with Alexi beside the fireplace, and Gemma stood beside the window, for the most part, anyway: the blond young woman did seem to like to pace, and Kira wondered if there would be a worn spot in the carpet between the window and the door by the time she was done figuring out... whatever it was she was planning.
At one point, Kira heard Gemma call out an odd sort of name -- Coobi, she thought it might be -- and a most extraordinary creature appeared, one that only stood about two and a half feet tall and had large gray eyes and huge, bat-like ears. Gemma asked it to retrieve a long list of what sounded to Kira like book titles, and the creature disappeared again, only to return a few minutes later laden down with, as Kira had guessed, books.
This entire time, Orion had stood silently beside Gemma, watching her with a gaze Kira found both odd and beautifully endearing: he obviously, despite his attempts at a completely emotionless facade, loved the young woman, though Kira thought with a small smile that it might just be her who was able to tell this for certain. Emotions were becoming easier and easier for her to recognize, though she was beginning to wonder if she was able to see things that others couldn't in this area, just as she had felt the power in the wand shop so clearly to the surprise of Fang and the shop man.
At this thought, she tugged out her wand again and played with it, mostly as a way to entertain herself. She resumed watching the others, noting that DC, who had been surprisingly silent, had moved over to Orion and was clearly trying to get his attention. Kira nearly giggled when she noted that Orion was fastidiously ignoring the other boy while not making it obvious; she found she couldn't help liking him, even though he was so... stiff. She personally liked DC better, though... and Fang...
She tugged herself from the way her thoughts drifted after this by reminding herself of Alexi, too: she liked the blond boy quite well, as well. She liked all of these people, she realized: they were all so kind, though so odd....
"This simply isn't enough information," Gemma stated suddenly, startling Kira from her reverie; the blond young woman had been skimming through the massive piles of books all this while. "All of these have the general technique, but they leave out every single fact about properties of the so-called werewolf 'venom'.... which makes them completely useless, in this case..."
Gemma sighed, looking to Orion.
"Do you have any books on this subject, Ri darling?" she asked, and Kira found herself scooting to the edge of the bed to hear better. After a few seconds of hesitation, she gingerly got up and trotted over to Fang, taking his hand but not making any other move to be close to him, so as not to draw attention to herself. She wasn't the important thing at the moment.... helping Fang was.
