Lance really was a lazy ass. As far as Melissa knew, the older boy had no job, yet he still sent her into Hogsmeade to collect some present for his beloved. Honestly, wouldn't a bigger sign of his love for her be if he got of his ass and got the stupid thing himself.
Wow... Didn't Melissa sound bitter?
She shouldn't be so upset. This was the first time she'd been out of the house since Lance's father had bought her what felt like months ago. The air felt good, oddly cold suddenly. Where had the summer gone? This as firmly Autumn now, from the cloudy skies to the leaves on the trees. She missed the summer sun, but she wasn't complaining. Outside was outside, and it felt great.
She was free! Well, almost. The metal bracelet on her wrist clinked against her skin, a cold reminder she was never completely alone. Lance could follow her if he wanted, he'd promised that her bracelet could be tracked whenever he wanted to. Running would be a pointless flippant gesture as there was no way she'd never really get away. They'd find her, and Lissy knew that.
So no, this wasn't freedom... But it was the closest she'd felt in a long time.
A chilly breeze cut through Melissa's thin grey cloak as she walked through the quiet streets towards the shop Lance had instructed. She rounded the corner and there it was "Diamond in the rough - Jewelers". Only with a giant great closed sign in the window. Melissa's forehead creased in a frown. Was this a joke?!
After all that Lance hadn't even checked the days they were open?
With a huff Melissa crossed her arms. What a pointless trip.
Great...
