7:45 a.m.
Justin had woke up early and on purpose. It wasn't something the seventh year did often unless it was a school day, which obviously this wasn't since it was a Saturday and winter holiday to boot. He had forced himself out of bed, glad to have no screams greet him this morning, and dressed before going down the dungeon corridor and up the stairs to the ground floor that lead to the foyer. The reason? To intercept his cousin before she could go into the Great Hall and find out about Pandora from the Headmaster's speech or something. Of course, he had no way to guarantee that wasn't how she had been greeted yesterday morning. The murder had occurred yesterday morning, after all. Surely the headmaster had announced the news of the murder at breakfast, and if Professor Faust had passed along information about a student being injured, he would have announced that even if he didn't have a name, right?
And Summer was smart. She'd have been able to put two and two together if such an announcement had been made in conjunction with him, Sofi, and Pandora all being missing. She then could have made her way over to the Hufflepuff table to ask who had been injured to make sure it wasn't either of her cousins, right? And if she was lucky and had happened to find someone who knew who had been injured, she knew now. If she hadn't, then she would have spent yesterday trying to figure it out or worrying, and he was sure to hear it from her for not being here yesterday to tell her he was alright and what had happened. But he'd needed to be selfish yesterday. He'd needed to get away from the castle and spend time at home with Sofi eating and talking and stuff, especially after the incident in the bathroom at St. Mungo's. He'd needed it for his sanity as much as Sofi had needed it for her sanity after hearing about the way Hogsmeade had been found that exact morning.
Sofi still hadn't heard, though, as far as he knew. Maybe a letter would come in this morning with the owl post giving her some assurance or heralding her parents' deaths. He hoped not, but seriously, what was going on? Were they ok or were they not? He just hoped she got some sort of news either way. He could help comfort her if they were dead, though he hoped they weren't. Seriously, he had no desire to see Sofi broken and grieving. It was hard enough on the both of them to have lost Pandora even if she was still alive and in a coma at the moment, but who knew what the future would bring. She could still die. His cousin could still die, and Summer deserved the chance her sister surely had had by now to go see Pandora in case something had happened. He had to tell her. But for now, he had to wait for students to start trickling in and hope he could intercept her with ease.
