It had been a little more than six hours since Kara’s release. Six hours since he tossed her out of Azkaban with nothing but the clothes on her back. Six hours of sorting through blood status papers since he was on the night shift. Six hours in which he couldn’t stop worrying. Was she ok? Had she went to the place he mentioned in the note? Would she be expecting him? Would she even want to talk to him now that she was out? All these thoughts and more had been plaguing the Captain during the remainder of his shift and it had been hard for him not to just up and bolt the minute the clock struck six. No, he played his part well and hung back like normal until the shift change was complete. It was then and only then, with a smile on his face that he walked to the fireplace and flooed to the Leaky Cauldron.
The place he had suggested to Kara was a small Inn nestled in the heart of Diagon Alley. Once he was through the main check point it didn’t take him all that long to get there. Now the question was, if Kara had taken up a room here, what room was she in? Markus highly doubted she’d use her real name… and it wasn't like he could send her an owl. An elderly woman sat behind the front desk and Markus strode up to her with a grin, making sure to pull his cloak around him so that it concealed his uniform the best he could. The less people that knew a Guard was here the better. A quick conversation with the woman, a description of Kara, and some light teasing that he had lost his girl later, the Captain had a room number.
He offered his thanks and headed up the two flights of stairs to get to the right floor and made his way down the hall, stopping in front of a well worn door marked 207. After a quick glance down the hallway to make sure he was alone, he reached up and gave a soft rap on the door. Hopefully she wouldn’t hex him, or curse him thinking it was someone else. As much as he wanted to call out and let her know it was him, he didn’t want to risk making a scene.
