This thread was originally written by Damien (Jordan), and is currently being revamped. This is a thread pertaining to the new Order of the Phoenix, containing a description of its various aspects and such. If there are any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to PM the Admins.
The old Order of the Phoenix, for the most part, has been destroyed. Many of the older members have passed on and many of the others were slaughtered and killed in Trevor Williams' rise to power. Only a few were were lucky to escape, either because they were unknown to the Death Eaters or skilled enough to evade them.
The new Order of the Phoenix came about due to the efforts of Damien Noland. For those who haven't read his bio or just skimmed it, his importance starts out shortly after the beginning of the Death Eater revolt. Damien Noland was a self made politician rallying for greater equality and less corruption. After the Death Eaters' attack on Hogwarts, he opened a temporary interim school for the students while Hogwarts was closed. The manor he had obtained to serve as the school was protected by highly advanced degrees of magic to prevent any more such attacks.
The school was only able to stay open to finish off the year (spring 2009). Hogwarts would reopen only to purebloods the coming year and Ministry opposition prevented him from opening his own school to non-purebloods. It was at the end of the school year that Damien learned of the Order of the Phoenix. Kyle Camden, a professor previously employed at Hogwarts and then employed for the interim school, confided about the Order to Damien, pointing out that it had fallen into shambles. By this point, many of the members had been killed, and many who hadn't had to flee for their lives.
It was at this point that Damien took the concept and revitalized it. He had Kyle contact the remaining old Order members and began gathering new ones. He turned the former school into the new headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix as well as a safe haven community for anybody on the run from the Death Eaters. The community has grown substantially and many members also volunteered for the new Order. Damien organizes and conducts most of the main activities, but due to his renown making him easy to recognize, and the large bounty being offered for him, his direct involvement is somewhat limited. He acts more as an overseer for the Order as well as the established community.
General Description
Since its original purpose was to be a school, the manor is designed for containing people. There are many bedrooms and (now unused) classrooms. The building itself has a large dining hall, a comfortable living area, offices, and rooms equipped for just about anything. There are also several smaller buildings adjacent to the main building of the manor, forming a square with a large courtyard in the middle. It has all the basic defenses, such as unplotability, the Fidelius Charm, muggle-repellent charms, anti-apparition, etc., but it has quite a few less known or more complex spells upon it as well. The biggest thing is that the entire complex can move. Like a giant, untraceable portkey, the Manor and surrounding grounds disappear and reappear. Every week or so, a new location is scouted out - this is so the manor is never is one spot for long, making it nearly impossible to find. Order members are updated on its location and community members rarely leave anyway. Newcomers are escorted onto the property by an Order member.
The Mazes
The primary defenses for the manor are a series of two mazes. The manor cannot be found or seen without first passing through them.
The Hedge Maze: What would a set of mazes be without a hedge maze? The hedges are magically modified so it is impossible to go above or below them, look down on them from high above, or blast through them. The correct path through the maze is made into a memorable pattern so that Order members can remember how to pass through. It is, however, long and complex enough that someone would not be able to figure it out. The wrong paths constantly modify themselves, so that a wrong turn will lead to wandering through the maze for an eternity (anti-apparition spells hold in the mazes). There is a secret passcode (given to Order members) that causes the hedges to create a direct path out, should someone accidentally get lost or need to quickly exit the manor. It does not lead toward the manor however.
The Door Maze: Once one manages to get through the hedge maze, he or she will come to nothing more than a small square building. Entering it will lead to a room with a total of four doors, each leading toward one end of the square. The entrance door will always lead back outside, but to pass through this maze one has to go through a combination of the other three doors. Once passing through one of these doors, they will end up coming into exactly the same room from the opposite side. Again the door order is memorable for the Order's sake, but still too complex to be figured out easily. After passing through the correct combination of doors, passing through the last door will lead out onto the manor's front grounds
The Grounds
Relatively speaking, the grounds of the manor are much smaller than those of Hogwarts. There is a small (now mostly unused) Quidditch pitch, a crystal clear pond, and many lush trees and grass that surround the area.
Corporum Building
This is the main building to the manor. Sleeping quarters (now used by the community) are found here, as is the Dining Hall, the Living area, the former classrooms, and a few offices and rooms that had gone unused as well.
Capitalum Building
A much smaller building located on the opposite side of the courtyard from the Corporum building, it originally housed the headmaster's office and quarters, as well as the staff common room and a few offices. Its primary function now is as the meeting place for the Order.
The Courtyard
In the very center of the manor is a beautiful courtyard. There are various gardens and trees that decorate the area, and small hedges that align the walkways. The Corporum and Capitalum buildings are found on opposing ends of the courtyard. A few other small buildings align the remaining two sides, including the greenhouses where much of the communities food is now produced. A sparkling fountain serves as the centerpiece for the area.
