Evie, Thomas & Evelyn Price = Summer
Trevor = Me
Mon., Nov. 13, 2000
'Kill, kill them she would’ Evie thought angrily as she stormed down to the Quidditch pitch with Casey’s broom in hand (not having one of her own and not wanting to use the schools) Her parents had stopped by as she requested so she could see them. Planned on having lunch with them, was even looking forward to it to some extent, but no, her dad had to bring up Casey!…she remembered the conversation well, seeing as it happened only a half hour or so ago.
-----
Evie was sitting in one of the many couches in the professor’s common room, waiting for the arrival and the esteemed Thomas and Evelyn Price; it had been a long time since she had seen her parents and with all the current happenings in her life she was rather looking forward to it despite the rocky relationship she had with them. The whooshing sound of the fireplace announced their arrival and Evie stood, smiling as happily as she could as she walked over to them
Mum, dad, you made it Evie said, giving them both a small hug
Of course we did pumpkin Thomas said, using one hand to hug his daughter as the other rested on his walking cane. Evie gave a small inward shudder at the name, she hated names like that but of course she never told her dad that.
Evie moved from her dad to her mum, giving her a small smile and a hug but Evelyn held her daughter out at arms length looking her over with a look of concern
Evie dear are you alright?
I’m fine mum…
Evie said, in a bit of a warning, not wanting her parents to know of all that had been happening or to bring it up
No, your not…come dear
Evelyn said leading her daughter to the couch, sitting them both down
now, what happened?
I told you mum I’m fine
Evie said with a bit of a edge, Thomas stood where he was, his hands folded neatly on the top of his cane, resting in front of him
It’s that husband of yours isn’t it?...
he asked more like a statement than anything and Evie didn’t answer, just looked down at the carpet
What’s he done this time?
Evie’s head snapped up, looking at her dad in disbelief
Casey hasn’t done anything, I told you everything is fine
Don’t defend him dear..
what?! Evie exclaimed, turning her disbelieving gaze to her mother now, what did they think he hit her or something? We got into an argument, that’s it, I’m not defending him because there is no reason to defend him except for the fact that you do nothing but belittle him! And I’m sick of it!
An argument like the last time you owled us? her father asked in an inquiring voice
if I recall, the last time something like this happened you were ready to move back in with us…
It’s not like that dad!
Oh no? That is what it looks like to me, and I’m sure your mother would agree
Evie looked at her mum who nodded her head in agreement…this was wrong, this was supposed to be a nice time with just the three of them, but it seemed that there wasn’t such thing as a nice time for her anymore
I knew that from the start that he was no good, would never be able to treat you like you deserve, couldn’t give you the things you deserve, I should have said something at the wedding, far to young to get married you were, far, far to young, should have known something like this would have happened sooner or later
Thomas said in a rather monotone voice, looking down at his daughter and shaking his head in disapproval
and now look at you Evelyn. 23 years old and what have you to say for yourself? Hmm? A mediocre job and a husband that reduces you to this Thomas went to continue but Evie cut him off
I have a beautiful son, a loving husband, a good job, a good home, friends, and my happiness, which is more than I can say for you! Evie was furious now, she thought they were over all this, but apparently not you know what, I don’t feel much like eating any more, I lost my appetite….
Evie stood, arguing with her parents some more until she kicked them out, nearly latterly pushing them into the fireplace. Now she was livid, she had to get rid of this anger before Julian came back from Casey’s parents house, get rid of it before Casey got back from his classes, didn’t need another fight with him, not now, not ever and one was almost sure to happen if she didn’t find an out for all this.
She started pacing around in front of the fireplace, her fist clenching and relaxing with each step, that wasn’t working so she picked up a pillow and screamed into it, that wasn’t working either, punching it didn’t help, either did counting to ten. Nothing was working and it was only making her more upset.
Stupid parents! Why did they always have to ruin everything?! She stopped by the window, about ready to just punch the wall when her eyes fell on to the Quidditch Pitch…Hmm, that always seemed to work for Casey, and the pitch looked empty. Evie quickly walked to their bedroom, grabbing Casey’s broom, if he had a problem with her using it all well, that was his problem, she grabbed a coat and threw it on and made her way down rather quickly, ignoring pretty much everyone as she did
----
Now here she was, standing on the soft grass and looking up to the 3 bronze hoops she was in front of, Quaffle under her arm with the broom in the other. A sudden wind picked up and Evie gave a small shiver, setting the things down to button her coat all the way before picking up the broom and Quaffle, mounting the broom and pushing off.
She was a bit wobbly at first, it had been ages since she was last on a broom, let alone practicing her chaser skills. Evie did a few laps around the pitch to get back into the feel of things, doing a few spirals, loops, weaving in and out…..She stopped once she was in front of the keeper hoops and had to grab on to the broom handle when she almost lost her balance…This really defeated the purpose if she fell….Taking the Quaffle Evie threw, more like launched it to the middle goal, using her wand to Accio the ball back, and throwing it again as hard as she could but it just missed the goal to the right.
Narrowing her eyes, Evie accioed the ball back to her and used the broom to move around a little, throwing the Quaffle while she was moving, it soaring into the far left goal. Evie repeated the process, throwing the red ball as hard as she could. Giving a few arghs! of anger when she missed. She was feeling a little better but not anything to write home about. Accioing the ball to her again Evie held it in her hands, the conversation...(if one could even cal it that) with her dad replaying in her mind, all the arguments with Casey the past few weeks getting thrown into the mix, anger at herself for letting her son down, making Casey upset, hatred for Voldemort….
Evie gripped the Quaffle tightly in her hand, squeezing it, her hands red from the pressure of it. She would kill Voldemort, kill him with her bare hands if she so much as had the chance. She took the ball and threw it hard toward the ground, putting all her anger, hate, emotion into it as she did. The Quaffle hit the sand below her, making a cloud of dust as it did, making a nice indentation where it landed. Evie gripped the broom handles tightly, breathing heavy, in-out, in-out, her face was flushed and the wind blew past her again sending stay pieces of hair in to her eyes. She moved her hair back behind her ear and looked toward the forest
She wanted to quit, give up on everything but she knew she couldn’t, wouldn’t do it. Because if she did then that meant Voldemort would win. He already came close to winning with her and Casey but they sort of managed to keep it together, still had their fights, still didn’t sleep in the same bed 9 times out of 10..Who was she kidding, Voldemort was winning, he would have everything he wanted if they continued this, they had to get it together, but Casey started drinking again, he went out a few nights ago, left Julian a note…What did he not think she cared where he went in the middle of the night? He was gone for the entire Saturday, and most of Saturday night..She could smell the firewhiskey on him when he came home….Did he think that was going to solve problems?
Git.. she muttered, getting angry again, she had to stop before something else happened. Evie flew down to the ground and landed, dismounting the broom and walked over to sit on one of the team benches. Resting her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands, leaning forward and looking at her shoes. This had to stop, everything, she wasn’t even sure if the Order knew of everything that was going on, Evie made a point to not go to any of the meetings while she’s a Death Eater, what she doesn’t know she cant report back to Voldemort and he cant use Leginmens to get the information from her because there wasn’t anything to get. But that wouldn’t last long, she had to tell him something, bring something to him or he would kill her.
Argh, everything was so complicated, she just wanted to hide, she needed to talk to someone, Serena, Ginny, John, Fred, George...They were all her friends but they would try to fix things, she needed to do that on her own, she needed someone that wasn’t part of their little circle, someone who didn’t know of everything else that went on before, but that was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Evie sighed, kicking away a rock with her foot, taking in a few deep breaths to stop her heart from pounding, her checks red from anger and wind burn, her hair askew from the wind, but she didn’t care all she wanted was to just sit there, lost to her thoughts
The Quidditch Pitch. Trevor never much cared for Quidditch in all his years at Durmstrang (not since his brother had outdone him and his parents gone and favored him in that arena. he had felt the need to excell elsewhere to get their true attention, though he still had his broom and he grabbed it on his way out of the common room) --or so he'd convinced himself-- and had only been at it at Hogwarts because of games (though he did at times fly at odd hours of the night), but it seemed from his study of his target's room, it seemed her husband's broom was missing, and he knew Casey was teaching, so he knew he most likely didn't have it, not unless he was planning on going to fly after teaching. So, because of that minute bit of doubt, he'd inquired of the students he passed on the way out to the grounds, saying he and Mrs. Winslow had some business to discuss, and some pointed towards the Quidditch Pitch, so he figured he had a good chance of finding her there.
His day had been quite uneventful thus far. There had been only one student sent to him --a Slytherin-- from the muggle study's professor, that Ginny Weasley that there had been all that fuss about from the girls at the last Death Eater meeting. He shook his head. What did those women know? He would have thought that had it not been for his observing the look on Evie's face. She seemed unattached from the meeting at that point, and he had spoke with Voldemort later, and indeed, it had been that they were on the right track; hence, the Dark Lord's putting off of the matter of Potter. He never questioned his lord, believed him undoubtedly whatever he said. He was loyal to the point of jumping off a bridge because 'it's the cool thing to do' if his lord told him and a few others. That, perhaps, was an extreme example, but nevertheless.
His eyes were set ahead of him, and he checked his appearance, making sure he looked properly for Trey Hunter before mounting the broom, zooming off for the Quidditch Pitch, noticing the strange looks he was getting from the students, and Trevor's instinct was to glare, but no, he couldn't. He was dear Headmaster Trey Hunter. He had to merely smile and wave, which even earned him stranger looks from his students, even Slytherins he knew were in his lord's service. Ah well. He'd bear all things for his lord's sake.
After a while, he finally reached the Quidditch pitch, keen blue eyes fixing on his target, who was sitting looking rather down in the dumps on a bench, but he pretended he didn't notice her at first, doing a few laps around the Quidditch pitch, a few spirals, including a death spiral, a few loop-de-loops, another death spiral. Yep, he still had it. He landed after that last death spiral, near the bench, running a hand through his hair and dismounting his broom, head turning towards Evie as he did, and he feigned a look of surprise.
"Oh, Mrs.--Evie, I didn't realize you were here," he said, eyes getting concerned as he saw how she looked. "Are you feeling alright? What's wrong? May I--?" Broom in right hand, he motioned with his left to the bench.
Evie looked up when she heard someone talking to her, about to tell the person to bugger off before she realized who it was. She looked up, running a hand through her hair with a sigh as she gave a small nod indicating he could sit.
"Everything's fine...." she said quietly, bringing her head up and resting her arms over her knees "just thinking"
"Well, it doesn't look like everything's fine. If you'll pardon my saying so, you look like someone's run you through the wringer a few times too many, more down in the depths of despair than our last meeting. You two aren't still arguing, are you?" he answered, leaning forward on his arms, turning his head to look at her.
Evie bit her lip, looking down at her shoes, slowly nodding her head "unfortunaly, it was starting to look up before he went..." she shook her head "nevermind, really everythings fine"
"No, everything's not fine, Evie, and no matter how many times you tell yourself that, I think you're smart enough to know you'll not be able to convince yourself. Now, what did he go and do? I hate seeing you like this. It's disheartening, depressing..." He made a bit of a sad face, an attempt to make her laugh. "Don't want to make poor Trey sad, now, do you?"
Evie looked back at Trey, giving him a very small smile, at least he was trying... "He" she sighed again "he started drinking again, he's only ever done it twice before, but that was only when things were bad...and that just means that I pushed him back into drinking..Left late saturday night and didnt come home till the next night..."
"Hey, listen, there's nothing you could have done to stop him. He made that decision on his own. He could have chosen not to, but apparently to him, drinking is more important than settling your problems. He should have learned those other two times that it doesn't solve anything. Sounds to me he was just waiting for an excuse, or this is his attempt at guilting you into his way," Trey answered. "But, without really knowing your husband personally, I could, of course, be getting him completely wrong...."
Evie fell silent again, was Casey only doing that to make her submit to his wishes? Would make sense in a twisted sort of way..But, no..he wouldnt do that would he? "I love Casey...And I know he loves me but this..our son doesnt need this. Julian doesnt need to see his dad come home drunk, to her us argue anymore than we have....It's gotten so bad that Julian went to hide under his bed.....I-I just dont know what to do anymore"
Trevor nodded, thinking to himself how pathetic this was, this girl hanging around when this man was clearly done with her. Heck, he pitied Casey, stuck with her because of the stupid kid, but of course, 'Trey' couldn't say that. Trey had to try to offer advice that could help. Sort of ironic, considering his purpose was to destroy their marriage ultimately, but he had to be friendly and helpful if he had any hope of his lord's plan for him to work out. It helped knowing he wasn't the only one who had to put up with these insane people who believed in love, that Morgana was working on Casey. He now was curious to meet up with her, figure out how she hit it off with Casey, make sure Casey was going to The Three Broomsticks instead of The Hog's Head even if he was more likely to be spotted there.
"Leave him, Evie," he said, mainly to get his attention, pausing for a few seconds before continuing. "You don't have to really go through with it. You can be in the process of packing up your things, the kid's too, if you think it'll be more affective. He comes back from teaching his last class of the day, finds you doing that. He asks what you think you're doing, and you tell him plain and simple, 'Casey, I'm leaving you. I can't let Julian be exposed to your drinking.' If he truly cares about you and the kid, he will give up drinking, unless he's that much of an alcoholic that he's got to go drink every single day once he gets started...then, he'll seek help for it.
"Test him, and you'll know where he truly lies in loyalty. Just a suggestion, of course. You know how his mind works better than I."
Evie fell silent again..that was a rather bold statement from Trey...Casey wasnt like that, he wasnt a drinker..only when it got really bad..But it had gotten really bad, would he continue? Would he become a miserable drunk, abusive?
"I cant...We went our seperate ways last time..It nearly killed us, and he's not like that..He's not a drunk.."
Evie stopped, it sounded like she was defending him, which she was but it might sound like something different to someone else "if I leave him, weather its for real or not it will only cause more problems"
Trevor listened, but inwardly the wheels of his mind were working. How could he get this to work, convince her it was the right thing to do? A-ha...maybe that would...
"Or would it merely serve to open his eyes? Like I said, be there packing...say something like what I suggested, and if he seems genuine enough, what you do from there is up to you. It might be the only thing to knock some sense into him. Either way, you two are killing each other, whether leaving each other will or staying together. If you remain together like this, you'll just make each other miserable, stressed, only ghosts of yourself. At least this way you'd have a chance to see whether he even cares anymore.
"It seems to me like maybe he's taken you for granted, figured you wouldn't tell anyone, and if you did, you'd defend him when they offer advice and thereby keep yourself locked in. He's confident you will stick by him no matter what. Therefore, he's not quite so caring about his actions: whatever they may be, the drinking, whatever started your arguing...This little stunt will open his eyes, maybe help him get his priorities straight."
Evie resting her head back in her hands, palm on her forehead...He did have a point "Trey..Casey and I have been through so much together, almost 8 years, Hogwarts sweethearts through thick and thin we've been together and I dont want there to be a chance that all of that could be over"
Merlin she was sounding like she was a robot wife, but she was still convinced that Casey wasnt how Trey made him sound, she knew her husband better than anyone..Then why was his plan sounded better and better the more she thought about it?
'Aww...Hogwarts sweethearts,' Trevor thought, taking all his willpower not to say it or make a face, 'how revolting.'
"The only reason it would be over is if you truly don't know him and he's that self-absorbed and prideful not to do whatever it takes to keep you. You say you have stuck by each other for years. Why should now be any different? If he loves you, he will do what it takes to keep you, even if it means begging. Would you rather live with someone who doesn't love you?"
She shook her head, bitting her lip, this was all overwhelming and it all started with that damn mark; Evie looked at her left arm more like glared at it, but quickly looked away, no need for Trey to get suspicous about anything, she was going to be leaving that all behind soon, pretend to be dead..assume anothers idenity. Maybe everything would get better after that, it had to "I'll think about it...It just doesnt seem right"
"Sometimes what is usually wrong is right. Some situations call for it, but it's your call, your choice. But, hey, what do you say we go get something to drink, eat or something? It's getting close to dinner, and you need some time to think. Maybe a nice time talking about whatever will help your mind clear so you feel you can decide what to do," he suggested.
"Maybe something to drink.." she said, sort of shifting in her seat a little, he was just being a friend right? But his rather bold proposal of her 'leaving' Casey..she found that sort of not his place. But, Trey didnt know of the past happenings, he was only trying to help....
"If you're sure..." he tacked on even though she had answered. Any fool could see she was semi-uncomfortable about the idea. "I mean, I wouldn't want to get you into any more trouble with your husband, and I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable...."
Evie shook her head a little, looking at Trey with a small smile..She had to of been over reacting, must of been "it's alright, sort of had planned on cooking for him tonight anyways, but a drink would be nice..And if it causes problems..i'm sure it wont"
"Well, good. I'll get you back with plenty of time to cook for him, then. No good to have you come home to a grumpy, hungry man," he answered, giving her a bit of a smile, standing from the bench, beginning to walk towards the direction the gates were in. "Just a quick drink at The Three Broomsticks, and we'll come back."
Evie stood as well, picking up Casey's broom and carrying it in her left hand, following Trey toward the gates, hopefully Casey didn't see and get the wrong idea, not that she wasn't planning on telling him where she was and who she was with and if he jumped to conclusions then she would have to knock some sense into the man, just a drink with colleagues, nothing more
Trevor made it up to the gates, undoing the charms (thinking how much of a nuisance they were at the moment) and opening the gates, letting her through before redoing the charms, beginning to walk towards the familiar wizarding town, though they could technically fly and get there faster, but he wasn't thinking about that at the moment, distracted by the charms.
You've been a lot of help the past few weeks...Thanks Evie said quietly as they walked to the town, keeping her eyes on what was in front of her and down a bit it's been nice to have someone to talk to that doesnt know us and tries to poke their nose where it doesnt belong
It's what any friend would do, he answered simply, glancing over at her with a bit of a smile and then back ahead. He had at least some semblance of her trust, or so he was thinking at the moment. Now, just to figure out what kind of thing to do, to get this kicked off. Maybe she'd follow his advice, Casey wouldn't do what he 'should.' But then, she'd hate him if it didn't work and it would backfire on him. Oy! Women...
Evie returned the smile, giving a small nod. Not really knowing what else to say at the moment so she turned her attention back to where she was walking, spotting the villiage a few yards in front of them
Trevor maintained the silence, deciding she'd speak if she wanted to speak. Finally reaching the village, he made a turn to head to The Three Broomsticks, finally making it over to the place, opening the door for her and stepping in afterwards. He ordered a butterbeer, though he much rather would have something stronger, but that'd be a bit too much when trying to make an impression on this woman. If her husband drank, he couldn't drink. He had to be almost opposite in some habits she hated and nearly alike in habits she liked. It was driving him up the wall. Why couldn't he have just had some mission to wait in a dark alley for her to pass, trap her, and kill her? Would have been so much easier, so much easier, but no, his lord wanted the Winslow traitor utterly broken and then empty and void after her death, and who was he to argue? He agreed the traitor should suffer immensely for betraying his lord before his death.
Evie walked up to the bar, ordering herself a butterbeer, thanking the barmaid some blonde woman. She walked through the crowded pub with Trey to try and find some emtpy table they could sit at, finding the one next to the old fireplace open go figure, this spot was always taken when I was in school.. Evie said absently, sliding into one of the seats and taking a sip of her drink
Trey sat across from her, smiling. Was it? Well, I suppose it helps to be a professor, able to come when there are no students.
Evie gave a small chuckle, setting her bottle down as after taking another drink that never stopped me when I was a student... she said, remembering back on times when she used to sneak into the villiage on her free periods or jsut plain out skip class to come
Oh...the stealthy type, I presume? Trey said, raising a brow and taking a sip of his drink. I've heard tale of your days in school, but I daresay I've merely dismissed them til now....
I've had my shinning moments Evie said with a bit of a shrugg at his raised brow
[Delete]
I understand that, he answered with a smirk. I hear tale of your hanging with a certain two or three boys that were well-known for their pranks. Made me wonder if you weren't the mastermind.
Evie gave a small grin, shaking her head..hmm trying to play to her vanity for her pranks I was responsible for a few..but alot were planned with the twins genius
Hmm...well, I'm sure you're more skilled in such ways than you give yourself credit for, he answered, taking a drink and letting out a sigh. Evie, Evie, what shall we have to do? Suppose that's why the kids favor you so much, the reputation you must've left behind. Of course, he was acting as though he was just giving her a hard time.
Evie couldnt help but smirk a bit even if he was just giving her a hard time he seemed to know what to say, taking a drink from her butterbeer well I rather hope I left some sort of reputation behind me after all I did
Yeah, not many leave much of one. Half the people don't even recognize my name back at Durmstrang, he answered, giving a bit of a sigh. He really could care less. That was why he'd assumed the name 'Trey Hunter' since no one remembered the kid, and no one remembered Trevor himself. He'd been more the observant type.
Evie tilted her head to the side a little looking at Trey with interest Well, believe me it's not always the best of things, tends to get the attention of a few unwanted people
Oh? Trevor asked, inclining his head slightly as though indicating he was ready to listen.
Well yea, I mean people tend to find something to use aganist you, or you get the just plain crazies that like follow you around all the time she said with a bit of a shrug, leaving out the part of Voldemort and his Death Eaters..not eactly pleasant conversation
Trevor let out a bit of a laugh. I suppose there's a downside to everything, then. And I see what you mean about the crazies...quite a few of those following me around lately, it seems. He, of course, was referring to the students who got themselves in trouble in Trey's case, so it wasn't what Evie was meaning, but ah well. As far as for himself, he had plenty trying to follow him, figure out who he was. Always lost their trail, but nevertheless, the losers were getting on his nerves quickly.
Evie gave a small laugh as she sipped on her butterbeer. Setting the mug down on the table and leaning forward slightly aw does Trey have his own little fan club? she asked, teasing
Trey shrugged. Must, the way some of them keep coming back day in and day out. It's sort of like 'Hello, Alyssa. What did you do this time?' Seems like we'd be good old friends, if the circumstances were different. Seems Turner sends the most. He 'doesn't believe' in giving out punishment himself. He rose a brow. I don't know how his class is anything but utter chaos. I need to survey it, but to be truthful, I'm a little scared.
Evie nodded in understanding. It must drive Trey completly batty having to deal with everything in this school, she knew she wouldnt be able to last a month with all this chaos. I dont know how you do it honestly, I would have gone bonkers the first month. I admire you for hanging in there as you have after all thats happened in the past with this school
Oh, I go bonkers alright. I just do well at hiding it til no one's around. I've been known to scream. In fact, I think I recall Mrs. Carter coming to the door a few times to check on me. At least, I think it was her. Some days are just...I don't know how you can stand teaching. I mean, you're with them more often than I. I think I'd die in your position after one class period. He gave a bit of a shudder.
It was hard at first. The first year was horrible...Didnt really want to be here to tell you the turth. Wanted to spend the rest of our newly wed time alone but, we really didnt have a choice in the matter Evie said, taking a sip from her butterbeer for a moment before continuing Minerva came to us asking if we wanted the jobs.....The students were little buggers at first and it didnt help that we knew a good majority of them from when we were still in school. But, they came to respect us as Professors in time and here we are 4 years later.
It's not all bad, and I guess it helped me a little because I used to do the same things they tried to pull on us, so I was able to counter it and time when they were and keep an eye out for the obvious signs...But Casey....not so much, was rather amusing to see him try thou
Hmm...definitely a plus. I'd probably turn out like your husband. I was the quiet sort back at Durmstrang, always observing, but I'd probably be a bit better. I watched the pranksters, knew when they were going to start to pull a prank and I was out of there. Didn't want to get blamed. Surprised he isn't better at catching the pranks. From what I've heard tell of, he was the quiet sort himself. Trey gave a bit of a shrug, taking another sip from his butterbeer and setting the bottle down afterwards.
He was...is. Evie said with a shrug of her own he knows some of the tricks, even helped me with a few major pranks in our 7th year but he still has alot to learn on how the masterminds work
Ah, Trevor replied. What else was he supposed to say? Well, maybe if you taught him? Or do we have a rivalry on that aspect in the marriage? Probably not the best thing to say, considering that rivalry, if it existed, was probably pretty much gone for the time being with the problems they were having, and he was supposed to be being sympathetic and gaining her trust. Well, didn't people say the wrong things at times? Maybe this could be passed off as one of those instances.
Evie looked down, twisting her bottle in her hand and heaving a sigh, it was an innocent mistake, it just slipped from him she was sure there was.... she said sadly, taking a few moments before looking up at Trey anyways... she said trying to curve the subject to something else
I'm sorry, Trevor said as gently as he could make his voice when she said 'There was....' Apologizing wasn't Trevor's thing, but his acting was at least decent, had to be if he were to be a person so different from himself as Trey was. Yes, anyway... he continued after her 'Anyways..' searching his mind for something to use to cheer her up instead of talking about this. It seemed that was how she wanted it to be after all, not talking about her problems any longer. How's that little boy of yours?
Evie's sad expression turned into a smile at the mention of Julian and she perked up a little bit, not slouching in her chair as much he's doing fine, hard to keep up with him at times...the boy has so much energy
Trevor smiled back and let out a laugh. Well, I suppose anything different would be bad. Kids are so cute when they're like that and think they can get away or hide.
Evie nodded in agreement, taking a drink from her butterbeer I can already tell hes going to be a handful once he gets older, already knows just how to work mummy to get what he wants..so hard to say no to him
Trevor gave one of those laughs that come out like a scoff but are obviously meant as a laugh, shaking his head as he grinned. Well, I suppose that's what daddy dearest is for, saying no when you can't.
Guess so...hes much better at it than I am. I can hardly deal out a punishment for the boy let alone say no to him she answered, growing up an only child sort of spolied Evie in that aspect, she never....well hardly never got in trouble for things growing up, not until she got to Hogwarts and got caught her first time pulling a prank, or when Molly punished her and the twins for doing something stupid or another
Trevor nodded, letting out a sigh before taking a sip of his butterbeer, finishing the beverage and setting his mug down, twirling it as he tried to buy himself some time to think of a response. Well, guess it just goes to show the difference between us men and you women.
Yeah, I guess, probably helps him that he grew up with six older siblings and is used to having punishment. I''m an only child so I tend to spoil him more Evie said with a shrug, she wasnt getting into the whole men and women diffences because when it came to that she was a tad bit of a feminist...didnt believe in the whole "I can do anything better than you can because I'm this.." stuff, she figured that was the reason why she did half of the things she did, why she got so involed with Fred and George to prove she wasnt some useless girl....if she really wanted to she could punish julian but the fact was, she didnt want to
"Hmmm...maybe," Trevor answered, giving a shrug of his own. "But then, isn't he the youngest? Would seem to me with that many siblings he got away with whatever he wanted..." Again, a shrug. He really didn't care at the moment, but nothing better was coming to mind at this point in time and so he just said what sounded most natural in response to Evie.
It was her turn to shrug she never really understood the whole 'youngest gets away with anything' unwritten rule, but she knew it was there because Ginny got away with murder when she did something 'bad', never got in trouble, but that being the only girl might have had play in that to, and she really didnt see Casey being a little terror like that, not with how he was when she first meet him and how he is now he might have, but his dad was...strict in his ways and I guess he picked up on it a little
Trevor let out a bit of a chuckle, smirk on his features as he looked down and shook his head. "Anything's possible, though the way I hear your history, you'd think he'd want to avoid doing anything his dad did like the plague. No offense to Mr. Winslow, of course," he answered, looking back up at Evie.
Non taken I assure you... Mark is pretty much everything you heard him to be...to me at least Evie said, sure Casey's dad had his good side and moments and he was a good guy but just not to her. And he did soften up to Evie but there was still that feeling of pure utter hate toward her she thought
"That must be rather unsettling, put a bit of strain on you and your husband. I mean, having to argue with parents always seems to have a negative effect...." He cleared his throat a little, letting out a sigh as though thinking maybe he'd said too much.
She nodded, waving off his uneasyness of saying to much it was, and still is. Our dads were aganist us ever being togehter in the first place, Casey's dad thought I was a bad influence on him, that I brainwashed him to be how I wanted, and my dad thought Casey wasnt good enough for me, wanted me to marry some rich Ministry man and carry on the family legacy. Was quite a bit of fun when they found out Casey proposed. Evie added in a scarcastic manner, that was anything but fun... Anyways...I'm sure your tired of hearing about us......What about you? Anyone special in your life?
Trevor gave a bit of a smirk at her sarcasm and shifted in his seat a little when she asked her question, looking down for a second before looking back at her. "Was, about three, four years back. Turns out we both wanted different things in life. Too bad we didn't find that out at the beginning instead of waiting til after we were married. No kids, thankfully." He let out a sigh, giving a shrug.
I'm sorry Evie found herself saying, poor guy. That had to be hard, thinking you've foudn the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and then it turning out bad. And some part of her couldnt help but think that her and Casey were heading in that very direction with the way things have been going. but, at least you two knew enough not to stay together, didnt wait till you had children...would have made things much harder than they already were.....Forgive me, it's none of my business she didnt want to seem like she was poking her nose in Trey's personal life, even if she sort of was.
Trevor nodded as he listened, letting his eyes show some small sign of emotion. He was lying through his teeth, but all the same...She didn't know that, and that was what mattered. "Yeah, it would have; it would have," he agreed with a sigh. "But, it wasn't that way," he continued, looking up at her and forcing a smile that quickly dissipated. "And, Evie, it's quite alright. There's no need to hold your tongue. It's been a few years now, really. I'm over it."
Evie offered a small smile at Trey, poor man, even if he said it didnt bother him anymore and that he was over it, she could tell he wasnt. Completly unaware that she was being played like she was. I just seem to always stick my nose where it doesnt belong even when I have no intention to
"Don't worry about it," Trevor replied as he tried another smile, not quite sure how to show that he didn't want her sympathy at the moment. "Being headmaster has helped in a lot of ways," he added before taking a drink of his butterbeer which seemed to have suddenly just appeared once again out of nowhere. He set the mug down after a bit and turned so his back was against the wall, a leg over the bench and the other on the bench, propped up, hand on that same side coming from the table to rest over his knee.
"Heard tell recently that she went and ran off with some bloke who works as a circus clown," he said, giving a bit of a snort. "Guess it shows her...unique tastes. It seemed like her interest fleeted to and fro as it pleased, and finally I had enough of all her talking about other men, and I told her, but she didn't want to see it my way--thought I was overreacting. As much as I wish it could've worked, it was probably best that we split up when we did. Kind of pointless to have a wife who's yours in name only."
She looked down as she took a sip from her own drink. He didnt seem to want consoling and she wouldnt keep saying she was sorry, but it was sort of hard not after hearing that. It must have been horrible for Trey, thinking you've found the 'one' and as it turns out she has other plans.
As she lifted her mug to take a sip she heard something fall to the ground, a small sound. Evie looked around the table, lifting her arm a little so she could look on the floor, seeing her necklace laying there in a small pile. oh no Evie said as she bent down to pick it up, grabbing the chian and picking the necklace up Julian gave me this my first mothers day, and now its broken
Trevor watched as Evie said 'Oh no' and leaned over, a brow raising slightly but going down as she sat back up and explained herself. "Well, maybe you can take it to Dervish and Banges one of these days. I know it's not exactly a magical item, but nevertheless, if anyone can fix it, they can. Have a pocket? If not, I'll hold it for you. Just remind me when we get back or I'll forget, knowing me," Trevor replied, lifting his butterbeer to his lips again and keeping his eyes on her as he drank from it.
Evie looked at the chain to see what could have possibly broken, looking at the clasp and seeing it seemed to be lose, it’s a good thing it didn’t fall off while she was walking across the lawn, that be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Would you please? I don’t want to lose it Evie asked Trey when he offered to hold her necklace for her. Holding out the chain and little charm to him so he could take it. thank you , you’re a life saver
Trevor took it from her when she handed it to him and secured it in the pocket of his robes. Now, hopefully the thing didn't fall out and send them back here searching for it after reaching the common room again. "Really, it's nothing," he answered with a smirk and a bit of a shrug. "So, what are you going to make him?" he decided to ask after taking a sip of his butterbeer again and setting the glass down, turning his head to look at her, still sitting as he had been before, having decided it was comfortable.
Hmm? Evie said having been lost in thought and not hearing trevor's question fully, not even sure what he was talking about at the moment
"You said before we left that you wanted to go home after this and cook for your husband. Just was wondering what you were going to make for him," Trevor answered, almost slipping up and saying, 'Winslow,' though he caught himself before it ever came out. Didn't need her to think he didn't like her husband or something.
Oh..um... Evie gave a forced nervous/embarassed laugh honestly? I havent a clue. It's possible he already had dinner in the great hall, that man is always hungry
"Ah," Trevor replied, pursing his lips a little and giving a nod. "The way you'd said it earlier, I thought maybe you had something planned. Was going to offer to watch Jules for you so you two could have an evening alone. The way things have been going lately...you two seem like maybe some time alone might do you good. But, if you think he's already eaten, then there's no harm in having dinner out, is there?"
Oh...well, I dunno now Evie wasnt so sure what she wanted to do, Trey did have a point and maybe some time alone would be good for her and Casey, Julian was at his grandparents house, they could just ask them to keep him a little bit longer. Also, she didnt want Casey to get the wrong idea or something if she went out with Trey, but why would he get the wrong idea? Trey was just a friend
"Up to you," Trevor replied, leaning a bit against the table and resting his arm on it lightly. "Though I would very much enjoy your company for dinner, maybe it's best for you to spend time with your husband. Maybe make a bit of a peace agreement for however long." He shrugged nonchalantly. It didn't matter to him, really, though he would really prefer not to go to dinner with her, contrary to what he said. But that was just Trevor talking there. However, he had to be game for anything.
Evie smiled slightly, he was sweet and she would love to go with him to dinner but her husband might take that the wrong way. Rain check? Evie asked, with a sorry look.
"Sure," he agreed, returning the smile. "You go on and do that. I think I'm going to spend a while out. I'll be back later this evening, if you need me." And he would, but he had a few things to deal with first to make sure this plan kept on track.
Evie smiled again. Thank you, see you later then. she said as she turned to walk back toward the castle. She was feeling better now after talking and spending time with Trey, maybe it was his company or just the fact that he didnt know anything about her or Casey or their past history with the Order or Deatheaters that made him easier to talk to.
"See you later," Trevor replied with a smile, raising his glass to her and then downing the remainder of his butterbeer before turning back to the familiar bartender. He ordered himself a firewhiskey once she was out, deciding one wouldn't hurt. Then, it was back to business. He couldn't let this night work out for them. Either way he knew he could beat her back to the school since she had to walk. He already had one area set up to be accessible for apparition. It was easier to escape for meetings from there.
Evie waved as she walked out the door of the pub and began the walk back to the school. At least she had someone one her side right? Though, it wasn't like he really knew anything about the root of her problems but that didn't matter. Evie would have never guessed that she would have found a friend in the Headmaster, he always seemed so business business business for the years that she had been here with him but, he was actually kind of nice.
