It was starting to look like a storm was beginning to roll in. The clouds were getting taller and you could spot a few thunderheads sprout up here and there. The wind was picking up and the temperature was dropping, yup, definite signs of a good summer storm which was good since it has been a rather dry and humid week and Evie enjoyed storms and loved the rain, but, not while she was out shopping and carrying bags of new goodies that could get wet. When Trevor left for the manner this morning Evie decided that she was going to treat herself, she had been cooped up in the flat for a few days and was starting to feel a bit of cabin fever. So she got up not long after he did and got ready and all that jazz and apparated herself over to Hogsmeade to do a little shopping.
There wasn’t much here except a few cute little stores and cafes since it was such a small village but ever since Diagon Alley had more or less shut down this was the next best thing and Evie didn’t really fancy spending her day in Knockturn Alley or feel like dealing with the large crowds and busy streets of London. When she arrived at the village Evie walked around for a little bit, trying to get a feel of the area again. It was a cute little place and looked like it would be a lot of fun to the students at the school, a nice little getaway from the stuffy castle and professors. To bad she couldn’t ever remember coming here during her time as a student, she really didn’t remember much from her old school days and it amazed her that she could still remember all the spells that she has.
Trevor had told her that she was in Gryffindor house….which at first confused the hell out of her until he explained himself and what that meant and then after she started the treatments it made a lot more sense to her when she started to remember a little. Gryffindors value courage and chivalry, their colors were red and gold, which might explain why her favorite color was red. From what she can remember and was told by others she was a die hard Gryffindor with a lot of house pride which made her laugh because Evie could imagine herself at a Gryffindor Quidditch game with her face all painted red and gold and banners, the whole nine yards, and she didn’t know if that was true or not but still, it made her smile.
Maybe she could go visit the school, walk the corridors again for old times sake and see if it sparks any sort of memories, who knows, maybe there was a plaque to her and her prankster friends somewhere in the castle. Evie was told that she caused a lot of damage in her day, was part of a trio of the best pranksters in the history of the school.
This wasn’t fair! Why did the Order have to take away her memory? Why did they have to go after her? It was a incredibly lonely feeling not knowing anything about yourself or anything at all, only what you’re told and read in books. Evie found herself doing a lot of reading lately, any book she could get her hands on about history or magic she would read, she finished Hogwarts a History in a matter of days.
With all the thought about what she was missing it made Evie feel even more down and she started on her little shopping spree after that, going from store to store and buying anything she saw that she liked, which wasn’t much but still, it was therapy. She finished at about 1 in the afternoon when she noticed the storm clouds after leaving a store, she should get home before it started raining, her arms were draped with bags from various stores and she really didn’t want her new things to get wet…But she was hungry and the little pub wasn’t that far away, just down the street. She could spare a little more time, couldn’t she? Sure she could, it wasn’t like she couldn’t just apparate from the pub if it did start to rain.
So that was where she headed next. Evie walked down the sidewalk along the rows of shops till she reached the Three Broomsticks and opened the door. It was nearly empty, thank Merlin.
The man behind the bar looked up when he heard the bell and saw Evie walking over to him and when he realized who she was he stood up straighter and smoothed out his shirt to make himself look more presentable.
Good afternoon my Lady he stammered almost like he was nervous
Evie set her bags down when she reached the bar and smiled at the man Good afternoon she said cheerfully while looking around not very busy today, is it?
N-no, I’m s-sorry…what can I get for you?
Evie frowned a little when she looked back at the short, round bartender there’s no need to be sorry, it is rather warm outside, it seems everyone was smart enough to stay indoors
The man flashed a nervous smile and Evie could tell he was uncomfortable and she sighed heavily. Ok, she understood that she was the wife of the Lord of the land, but really, that didn’t mean that people had to give her such special treatment or act so strangely around her, or nervous, she didn’t think she was that scary and she wasn’t one of those women that would go blab to her husband when she didn’t like something and have someone thrown in prison for it.
What can I get for you my Lady? He seemed to be trying to control his voice so it stopped shaking and Evie gave the poor man a sympathetic smile
A iced tea and a BLT, please she told him while reaching for her purse.
On the house my Lady The little man said, flashing a quick smile like he was doing something good but Evie shook her head and began to fish out a galleon from her wallet
You don’t have to do that, but thank you
Oh, but I insist, it’s my pleasure
Evie still protested, shaking her head and setting the galleon down on the bar and sliding it across to the man who slid it back at her.
Please, my Lady
Evie slid the coin back at him a little more forcefully thank you, I appreciate your kindness but, please, I’m just like everyone else and I’m a paying customer, so let me pay you there was a slight edge to her voice this time. She was getting fed up with this, it was ridiculous, was it really to much to ask to be treated like everyone else? She wasn’t a celebrity, and even if she was it wouldn’t make a difference. People needed to make a living and she was going to pay like everyone else.
The man at the bar knew he was defeated, he was upsetting her and that was the last thing he wanted to do because she could turn around and tell the death eaters of her husband something about him and that would be the last anyone ever saw of him and his pub. He picked up the coin in defeat and walked over to the register to get her change
Keep it Evie told him and the man nodded his nervousness coming back to him.
T-thank you
Evie nodded once and smiled while she bent back down to pick up her bags and the little bartender was quick to come around the bar to help her but Evie let him, there were to many for her to carry by self. She picked up half and he got the rest and followed Evie to the empty table that was off in the furthest corner on the pub and set the bags down.
Thank you she told him and he scurried off to get her drink and bring it to her before heading off to make her sandwich and Evie sat down in her corner and sat back with a heavy sigh, grabbing the bottle of butterbeer and taking a drink from it. Hopefully no one else would spot her and act the same way the bartender did, she didn’t think she could handle it right now, but you know how that always goes, whenever you don’t want to be found someone always seems to find you and speak of the devil. Evie looked up when she heard someone speak to see….
