It had been a long day no matter how one stopped to look at it. Fiasco after fiasco seemed destined to happen in all of the Dark Arts classes today though on a happy note it seemed the gods were smiling on his classes as no one got permanently injured. The carelessness of a couple 6th year students so close to the end of term had definitely frayed his nerves. Really, who casts a half arsed deflection shield at the last possible second and deflects the curse at another student who isn't paying attention. Honestly that was the most points he'd ever taken off any class in his entire teaching career. That made the 1st year who had been hurling snails all morning seem like a cakewalk. Dresden shook his head as he stalked through the corridors now that his last class of the day, 7th year Gryffindors and Slytherins, was finally over and all he wanted was a steaming cup of hot coffee.
Coffee he had decided long ago was a miracle drink, a lifesaving substance. It could calm the nerves, keep you alert, and wash away the days woes. With that thought in mind he barged into the staff room, grabbed a mug from the counter and proceeded to head straight to the coffee pot....the empty coffee pot. Great. As if the day couldn't get any worse.
He rummaged around the cupboards and found all the coffee supplies and went about the task of making a fresh pot. Yes he could have just summoned a house elf but he was beyond all rational thought at the moment. It didn't take long as all the supplies were neatly stored. All was going good until he pushed the on button and nothing happened. His fists tightened into balls of fury. What the hell was going on? Why was there no coffee coming out? He gave the machine a good whack and still nothing happened. Dresden was sure he looked like a child who was just denied his favorite treat and he glared at the empty pot, hoping that if he glared long enough it would scare it into producing his much needed lifesaving goodness.
