[/blockquote]What creates my own madness
--------------------------------------------------Phobia: Farrah is terrified of anyone finding out her blood purity. It’s been drilled into her ever since she could remember. Her grandparents made it clear, if she dishonors her family by telling people about her muggle father then she’d loose everything, her inheritance and all.
Habit: When displeased Farrah purses her lips, a habit she inherited from her grandmother.
Pet Peeve: Farrah loathes women who pretend to be stupid to get attention, nothing annoys her more. She’s always pushed herself academically (trying her hardest to gain approval from her grandparents) and can’t stand women who attempt to get by without working.
By the same token she can’t stand girls who will flirt with any man shamelessly, as if they have no shame or respect for themselves. She can’t stand it.
Personality: Farrah is a very proud young woman and isn’t very good at showing her emotions, since it isn’t really done in her society. If something bothers her, she wont show it in public if she can help it. Sometimes it can come across as icy or uncaring, which she isn’t, it’s just you’ll probably never see her break down.
One thing Farrah is incredibly passionate about is the dark arts. It was pushed in her old school as an “academic subject” which Farrah excelled in, and was ecstatic to hear that Hogwarts had begun offering that subject as well, just before her transfer. She enjoys transfiguration as well, but isn’t her favorite.
As much as she can Farrah tries to stand on her own two feet, and doesn’t like to lean on her Grandfather’s job title and status. She wants to make a name for herself on her own.
Farrah hates to be venerable, but at moment she can’t help it. In a forgien land she doesn’t really understand with a far from perfect language, but she’s determined to make it work. Some people think she is stupid, but she is anything but. Give her half a chance and she will prove it too you.

Birthplace: Alexandria, Egypt
Family: (Relationship | Name | Age | Position | Blood)
Grandfather || Hasim Bin Majid Rushdi || 58 || ex Egyptian Minister for Magic, currently the Head of Department of International Magical Cooperation || Pure
Grandmother || Nimat Rushdi || 53 || House Wife || Pure
Mother || Lamya Rushdi || Missing || 33 || Pure
Father || Chris Laymount || 37 || US Navy Marine || Muggle
History: The name “Rushdi” has been associated with the Egyptian wizarding elite as far as anyone can remember. They’ve always had money, and have a pure blood line just as far. Hasim and Nimat Rushdi were no acceptation, and after years of trying had their daughter Lamya. Lamya was a model daughter throughout her childhood and early teens, but that all changed when she met a certain American Navel officer who’s ship was docked in one of Alexandria’s ports. It was a whirlwind romance, and to the shock of bother of them, Lamya ended up pregnant.
Needless to say her parents were furious. It’s simply not allowed in the Arab world, getting pregnant before you are married and with a muggle? It would ruin them! So they did the only thing they could think of, and lied. Quickly they married the girl off to a employee of Hasim, and concealed the pregnancy that way. But Lamya was happy, and only days after delivering baby Farrah, ran away in the hopes of finding Chris. Her husband was livid, and threw the baby girl out of the house. Nimat convinced Hasim to keep their granddaughter who reluctantly agreed, on the condition that her blood status was kept a secret.
So that was the family, Hasim, Nimat and little Farrah. When Farrah was 7 Hasim was made the Minister of Magic, and their standards of living certainly went up. It was really good for a while, the trouble only began when Farrah was around 9 and questioning her heritage. Nimat wanted to just lie about her parents, but Hisam refused, knowing Farrah would need to know the secrets if she was expected to keep them.
She was told the whole truth and also told the threads. Even at the tender age of 9 Hasim made it clear, dishonor the family by letting her the truth of her blood purity slip and she would be disowned, and that included everything, even her inheritance. Farrah understood, but didn’t want to tell anyway. Blood status was a big thing in Egypt – if you weren’t pure then you weren’t the eliete – you were second best. Farrah didn’t want that for herself.
When Farrah was twelve she began her education at “Hailsham Institute” in Cairo, which is very similar to Hogwarts although has far stricter rules to separate the sexes. Farrah adored Hailsham, in particular her lessons on the dark arts. She found them fascinating. A few of the more traditional teachers raised eyebrows at the girl’s choice of subjects but no one said anything, it wouldn’t be worth risking the wrath of the Minister of Magic. So Farrah worked, made friends, and generally enjoyed school until she was 16 where another upheaval took place. Hasim resigned his job as Minister of Magic, saying it was for a “younger man” and was offered a job instead in the UK as “Head of International relations” which he happily accepted. That meant the family was moving. When Farrah was told the news she was devastated, she didn’t want to leave her friends or her school but had no choice, Hasim made it very clear.
They arrived in the UK in early September, and Hasim had to pull a few strings to have Farrah enrolled so quickly. Her books and uniform was collected from the Alley, and then, suddenly, she as standing in front of the imposing school gates.
She arrived late on Sunday the 18th, and after a private sorted was placed in Slytherin house. Only time will tell if she’ll fit in as well as she did back in Egypt – but she certainly is going to try her best.
