Casey nodded. "I know, and I'll keep that in mind, Kara," he replied, giving a half smile. "You've always been there for me when I needed your help, just as I hope I've been there for you as much as I could be." Maybe he hadn't been there as often as she'd have liked or in the way she'd have liked, but that was a moot point. Anything else but sex he had been willing to give her. Hell, he'd wanted to give her that, too, but he hadn't wanted to hurt her all the same. So, he had been there for her, protecting her even then, right? Of course. She probably hadn't seen it that way, but hopefully she didn't remember that embarrassing little incident.
"But um, right now...I just...I need to figure out how you--or anyone, for that matter--can help me. I mean, I've got to have a plan before I can propose one, you know? And so far, I've just been trying Julian-sounding places as they come to mind--not that I can reach all of them, and I sure as hell hope he didn't try to reach any of those ones that I couldn't. But I've tried the Price's manor. Completely abandoned. And my parents'. Eerily empty." He cleared his throat lightly. It was eerie. His father had died, but where was his mum? Had she moved in with someone else in the family? Had his family left? Was she with Jason's parents? Was everyone with Jason's parents? "Tried the Leaky Cauldron. Nothing. He couldn't possibly have gotten much further without...without..." He shook his head, refusing to voice his thought. Captured or dead. And dead wasn't an option. Nor was captured unless Trevor kept him to himself, but even that... Even that...
Casey stood, his mind swirling with the possibilities of what could have happened to his son. "I need to go. But I'll keep in touch. I promise. I'll contact you as soon as I think of something." He was feeling overwhelmed with emotion right now. He couldn't let her see him like that. He leaned down, pulling her into an embrace and breathing in her scent of of lavender. It was calming, familiar, and he wished he could stay like this forever, but reality was beckoning, and the familiar scent was making emotions stronger. "It was really good to see you," he murmured before pulling away. "I'll see you soon." He gave her the best smile he could imagine
