Trevor had done a number on the potion master's slave.
"No one is to know. Do you understand? You'll deal with the pain in kind. You brought it on yourself. You deserved it."
Seren had deserved it. Trevor had made that clear. Speaking to Casey of her dreams, keeping them a secret, she had brought it all on herself. What she could have done though? These visions were new. How could she have known what would happen.
Didn't matter though. Lord Williams had made himself clear, this was her fault. And she had been punished for it.
The young girl shivered against the wind of the Owlery and looked down at the powder in her hand.
Oh Lord, could she?
The letter from Casey had pushed her over edge which Lord Williams' shoved her so precariously close to. Trevor had been clear. Casey was the enemy, he was not to be trusted... But when the letter had arrived... Well the man had been so kind. He cared. The fugitive had made the young girl promise to keep her visions a secret.
That had failed.
Lord Williams said Casey was evil, but Casey seemed to think the complete opposite.
Seren was stuck between between a rock and a hard place. There was no winning this game. All there was in either direction was pain.
It wasn't the first time Seren had been suicidal, the scars on her wrists were proof of that. This time she had no access to knives though. Only potion supplies. That's where the powder had come from, straight out of her Master's supply cupboard. She'd recognized the white powder as ground fox glove, a wild plant her father had often used in his potions.
On it's own it was poison enough of the stuff could kill...That was her only way out now. Seren could see that. Ending herself (properly this time) would make the pain finally stop. Finally. She longed for this to be over.
The Owlery had been the obvious choice, night time. After all with all the pandemonium who would notice one little slave girl slip up the stairs after curfew.
Now she sat with her back against the cold stone wall, staring at her handful of powder.
Now... She had to do it now.
Before she lost her nerve Seren tilted her head back and gulped the powder. She grimaced at the bitter taste and immedietly wished she'd grabbed water to bring with her.
It didn't take long for Seren's stomach to churn, and not long after her eyes slipped shut. Maybe then the pain would cease. Maybe then the pain would stop.
