A dreamscape on your bedroom wall
Denver's teasing made Liss laugh and her cheeks to warm. Precious, indeed. The candy was indeed precious to her, even more so now than it used to be years before. Warmth grew inside her and she felt something click. She tried to ponder what that feeling was when Denver answered the question she tried to make him forget.
"Gryffindor." Liss repeated. Well, that made sense. "That would explain your bravery earlier today." She spoke with sincerity and looked at him with admiration. "I do not suppose we might have met?" She queried, head tilted in curiousity, then answered her own question. "No, I would think not. I did not socialize much." The last part she spoke softly, with a hint of sadness. The past tended to sink its claws into her fairly easily. It might have been seconds, it might have been minutes, but Liss realized that he had asked her what house she was in.
"Oh. . . um. . . Huff - Hufflepuff." She ducked her head, embarrassed, even though all the students had said she seemed to fit that house more than the others. She was about to request that he did not make fun of her for her sorted house, when another breeze whipped by them. She could feel the goosebumps start to raise on her arms and she realized that she didn't have his jacket anymore, looking around frantically in hopes of spotting it. There it was, hanging off Denver's arm. Her voice shooke a little when she spoke. "Would . . . it be alright if I wore your jacket again?" Liss reached out to touch the sleeve and rub the fabric between her fingers, absentmindedly. "I do like the color." Maroon, a dark red, a dark Gryffindor.
Her house grew closer, and when Denver pointed it out, she spoke with pride. "Yes. It is rather comfortable, even if it does not look it from the outside. My governess had said it was a gift from my father to my mother." She smiled at him. Their journey together was almost at an end, but Liss didn't want it to end. She wanted to be around him a while longer, be selfish and happy for a while longer. She stopped before they had even reached the stone path that led to the door. Her hand tugged him back to her and she looked up into his eyes. Nervously, she bit her lip and worked up the courage and the willpower not to backtrack. "Would you like to join me for dinner?"
