”Oi, get your own damn drink! I was enjoying that!” Of course there were no hard feelings, they were friends after all and one missed meet up wasn’t going to kill anyone. It just meant he now had an excuse to hex his friend’s breakfast or something equally as fun. That simple thought put a wicked grin on Dresden’s face as Milo answered the Flying Professor’s last question. ”Punch and whatever the students have decided to spike it with this year you mean Milo,” he added on with a chuckle, ”Though now that you’ve finished my drink I think you ought to get us a refill… and snacks, lest you find yourself with some man eating toast in the morning.” He nudged Milo lightly at that as if asking his younger friend if he was right.
He let his gaze wonder of the growing crowd on the dance floor a moment before turning his attention back to his friends. It looked like the students were having a good time. Heck, even the band wasn’t to terrible, though he much preferred classical to anything. Maybe he’d have to pull out his violin one of these days and play. Now there was an urge he hadn’t had in ages. His wandering train of thought was brought abruptly back into focus when his stomach chose to let out a very audible grumble. Dres gave both Milo and Gideon a slightly sheepish look. ”So about those snacks?”

Addison chuckled, though she could barely even hear herself above the loud music coming from the nearby band. So, he did still function, did he? She turned around, placing her hands on Subaru's shoulders and shook her head before leaning in to speak in his ear so he could hear her. "Relax a little, Sub-chan," she teased. Honestly, yeah, maybe that last move was a bit uncalled for, and she wasn't going to push that movement, but the boy seriously needed to cut loose and at least enjoy dancing. The Slytherin girl glanced over toward the refreshment table for a second before looking back to Subaru, now pulled back more or less at arm's length, her hands still on his shoulders. She let her hands slide down his arms after a moment to grab his hands in sort of a loose frame to try to help lead him into somewhat of a fun rhythm. Boy needed to at least loosen those hips and get down. If this didn't work, it was time to find out if the damn punch was spiked yet or not.

Milo's brows raised and his lips formed an O as Dresden mentioned that the students had spiked his drink. Then, he grinned a devious grin at Dresy's suggestion and threat to Gideon. "Sounds absoludely scrum'di-ous, Dresy!" he agreed. "Anb how 'boud sommme," he sniffed hard to try to make talking easier, "tickling forks to ead da food wid?" He nudged Dresy back, laughing at his friend's stomach. "How 'boud dem snacks?" he echoed. "'fore he eads you!" Merlin, this cold was annoying, but at least he wasn't feeling dizzy anymore when he laughed. But his nose did feel stuffy. He grabbed for a napkin and blew then, all sense of table manners abandoning him, something that wasn't usual for even the normally care-free man. Pleased with the feeling after he finished, he balled his napkin up and held his fist up in triumph. "Better!"

Subaru cracked a small smile when Addie’s hands slipped onto his shoulders. So much for a possible clean get away, not that had been what he was planning. If anything could be said about his fellow Slytherin was that she was persistent when she wanted something. He raised a brow slightly when she leaned in only to have to resist an eye roll and a sigh when she told him to relax a little… and then to add the –chan… Instead he chuckled and shook his head slightly resigning himself to the fact that he wasn’t going anywhere until he gave some sort of passable effort to this whole dancing thing. ”I’m trying Addie, honest!”
Ok, so maybe he hadn’t really been trying, mostly because he really wasn’t sure what he was doing and the fact that he probably looked like a total idiot attempting to dance with someone as good looking and popular as Addison. After a moment her hands slid from his shoulders to his hands, than made an attempt, he figured, to help him out. The rhythm she chose, and he even had to admit to himself, was kind of fun and fairly easy to follow once he caught on, not that the younger Slytherin would ever admit to it. His movements were still a bit stiff and he still felt like a complete idiot but even Addie would have to admit he was trying. That thought brought a more sincere smile from the seeker. After a few more songs had a chance to play he leaned in toward her so she could hear his simple query, ”Want to get a couple drinks?”

Justin thought nothing of the fact the other two hadn't rejoined him as of yet. It made no sense to give themselves away as fellow conspirators. Summer and Ryder hanging out was fairly normal these days, but the three of them? That hadn't been seen much, if at all. It would draw suspicion if someone noticed them huddling together at any point tonight, especially if Summer brewed this potion how it was supposed to and the three professors were to start behaving as teenagers.
Justin stood from his chair after seeing that all three professors had been laced at least in one way or another. Seemed Professor Witte would probably see results the quickest, having received a full dose--unlike Professor Faust or Conleth--but what did it matter? They would be acting like children before they could deduce what happened to their fellow professor, right? And besides, if they decided there was something wrong with Witte and it carried over into the rest of the night where the trio were acting as teenage sleuths, it could be amusing, couldn't it?
Then again, thought the Hufflepuff as he made his way over to the snack table, that prof is always weird. Maybe they wouldn't notice. How many times had he seen Witte dancing through the halls singing or just acting like one of the students with the other students? Far too often. But whatever. Tonight would still be amusing regardless if the three acted as teenaged sleuths tonight, right?
Justin sighed as he reached the line at the table and turned his head to look over the rest of the hall. There stood Summer and Ryder. Nothing interesting going on there. And the professors were being boring. Wait... Fist going up in a victory salute by Witte. What was this about? Was it starting? A hopeful twinkle graced the seventh year's eyes as he turned his face back forward and took a couple steps forward as the line moved. May as well get more than just punch to watch tonight's show with.

Wow... Milo did not sound so good. Gideon looked at his friend, it definitely looked like he'd caught some winter bug. Not a great way to end the school year really... Gideon frowned at his friend, " Milo, you sound like you would be better of in bed with some tea?" The healing draft might do something, but Gideon's mother always swore by the old fashioned methods of tea and rest.
Get his own drink? Now why would the flying professor do that when Dresden's was there, just begging for a new owner. Gideon was quite proud of himself, after all annoying the dark art's professor was a much loved hobby. But of course, he was, until his friend mentioned spiking. "The students spiked us? Doe that not... bother you?" Gideon looked with disbelief at at the cup, and then to his friend. Was this really not an issue?
Gideon and himself had definitely done their fair share of stupid things while at school, but he certainly didn't remember drugging any of the professors. Perhaps the line between "funny" and "suicidal" had been pushed back... Hell if McDowell was involved then Gideon would bet on that. Young Justin had never been such a fan of the rules.
What was this, Dresden poking fun at his expense? Gideon faked a pout before looking at Milo in disbelief at his nose blowing. "You do not sound well, Milo. We'd better hope the students has does you with something to make you feel better!"

The Dark Arts professor could barely contain the eye roll that so desperately wanted to happen at Gideon’s remark to Milo about being in bed. Why on earth would the younger man want to do that? It would be boring and besides the Yule Ball was happening and what a better way to kick back and unwind then by partaking in a bit of fun, even if one was feeling under the weather. Besides, he’d given Milo a good potion that should be kicking in any minute now.
When Gid went on to ask if the student’s spiking the punch bothered him, Dres leveled the man with a raised brow before dead panning, ”You sound like my mother.” He then narrowed his eyes as if he was deep in thought before warily asking, ”You aren’t her in disguise are you?” It took all his considerable will power to keep a straight face and not burst out laughing right then and there. Seriously, Gid needed to lighten up and relax a bit, take a page out of Milo’s book.
Absently, Dres rocked back on the legs of his chair as he continued to listen to Gideon’s disbelief of the situation and his continued mother-henning of their younger friend. Who was this person standing here with them and what had they done with the real Gideon. He gave one final push backward on his chair and kicked his feet up on the table, comfortably reclining and balancing on the back legs of his chair, something he hadn’t done since his more rebellious school days to annoy professors when he had lost interest in classes. Had the professor realized what he’d just done he probably would have been mortified. Talk about throwing all manner of manners and tact out the window. Merlin his mother would kill him. As it was though, Dres simply grinned at his friends as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening.
”Seriously Gid you need to relax. How about grabbing yourself and us a refill and some snacks and we can set to work at enjoying the festivities.” He pat his stomach lightly before tucking his hands behind his head as if he had no care in the world.

"Just when you were finally getting into it?" Addie asked, smiling back at him. Subaru smiling. Now, that was rare, and it made Addie feel good about herself as sappy as it sounded. "Ok," she conceded. "I think you deserve a break, but another dance later, yeah?" She wasn't going to let him off with just trying. Now that she'd managed to get him to genuinely try and to smile while doing so, she was feeling more encouraged that he might actually be able to enjoy himself by the time she finished teaching him to dance. And maybe, just maybe, that was one more thing knocked off her goal list for "Project Subaru"--not that she'd ever tell him he was a bit of a project. She did genuinely care, but she liked the challenge sometimes of trying to get some shy individual out of his or her shell. Didn't happen much, what with being in Slytherin, but hey, when it did? She enjoyed it.
"Wonder if they spiked it yet," Addie wondered aloud as she walked out of the now-crowded dance floor, making sure to not get too far ahead of Subaru. He'd probably let people go past him or be too unaggressive to get far fast, and she wasn't wanting to stay where it was as remarkably warm as the dance floor was at the moment for much longer. As soon as she made it past the last line of students, she felt slightly better, though she still was warm. "What do you say we get a breath of fresh air for a while after we get our drinks?" she suggested. It was about the only way she was going to cool off anytime soon.

"Milo, you sound like you would be better of in bed with some tea?"
Milo made a face and stuck his tongue out at Gideon as the man said this. He was being too much of a killjoy, wasn't he? Much too much like a mum. And then he was asking if the fact the punch was spiked bothered them. Milo rose a brow and glanced at Dresden whose response gained a whoop and a short round of clapping from the arithmancy professor. "Word, Dresy!" he complimented. "Absoludely brilliand."
At Gideon's restated concern, Milo rolled his eyes. "Dresy had dat cob-vered," he replied matter-of-factly. "Already better-ish," He smiled at the man and then nodded to what Dresden said, "Dat guy? Sounds like a man wid a plan! Tissue, Dresy?" Honestly, it felt like that was what was needed because he was getting a slight headache and everything felt like it was in his nose and he really needed to sneeze. His face screwed and mouth opened as he fought the sneeze, but it was inevitable. "Qui--gaaah-choo!" Milo brought his hand to his nose quickly only to bring it away with disgust. "Ewwww, seriously, this blows." He held his hand away as though it had something much worse on it, giving a little whining sound as he looked around for something to use to wipe himself.
"Excuse me, gentlemen," he said, giving them a grimace of a smile. "I'm going to use the facilities." With that, he took off from his seat and through the Great Hall toward the nearest bathroom, his hand held as far in front of him as he could and the disgusted look never once leaving his face.

He offered his fellow Slytherin a shrug. Just because he had been finally getting into it didn’t mean he was going to stay on the floor all night. Subaru’s smile widened slightly when she agreed to go grab a drink and the relief he currently felt, even if he had kind of sort of enjoyed the dance, was visible. If all it took to get them out of the crowd for a bit was a promise to try again later he was all for it. He could worry about the rest later. ”Yeah, sure thing Addie.”
As Addison set off at a slowish pace, moving through the crowd with ease while making sure not to lose the younger Slytherin. Carefully Subaru picked his path through the mass of people, slipping between bodies as soon as there was a large enough gap to pass with minimal effort. ”Wonder if they spiked the punch yet?” He gave a slight chuckle at Addie’s words. ”If it’s anything like last year they probably did,” he quipped as he slid up beside her as they crossed the last line of students separating them from ‘freedom’. Subaru breathed a soft sigh of relief as they continued toward the tables where the food and drink was set up. ”Sounds like a plan,” he stated simply. A breath of fresh air sounded like a great idea.
Once at the drink table he grabbed a couple glasses, one for her and himself and proceeded to fill them. Once that was done he turned back to Addie and handed her a glass. Funny how the manners his grandparents had tried to teach him tended to show up in these sorts of situations. ”Can I get you anything else?”

Addie smiled as Subaru handed her the drink. "Thanks," she said before looking around at the rest of the appetizers. She shrugged when she saw nothing that particularly appealed to her at the moment. "Get yourself whatever you want," she told him. "I'll be out in the garden." With that, she began to walk toward the new doorway (or old, depending how you looked at it) that was magically installed every Yule Ball to facilitate access to the closed-in garden area. It was lit this year as it was most years with lighting in the trees and hedges that lined the grass walkway. As usual, there were benches that looked like marble in random alcoves throughout the small garden. It was meant to be romantic, but all Addison cared was that it was cool. It was the one outdoor area they could go to that wasn't going to be afflicted by the freezing weather thanks to the spells around it yet still lacked the warmth of the Great Hall with all the bodies.
As soon as she was outside, Addie took off her heels and let them hang by their straps from her pointer and middle fingers as she walked slowly about, her face toward the sky. It was strange to watch snow falling only to stop just feet above her.

”Yeah, no problem,” he said, quirking a small half smile back at Addie. He watched as she wandered out onto the garden before making his way back to the table. He wasn’t overly hungry; rather, he just needed a bit of space and figured this was the perfect way to get it. Subaru didn’t even bother with a plate, he just grabbed a few things and popped them into his mouth as he saw fit before refilling his cup and making his way in the same direction Addison had a few minutes earlier.
When the Slytherin stepped out into the garden area his eyes could help but be drawn upward toward the light fluffy snowflakes that continued to fall only to disappear before they ever made their intended destination. There were still a few places where small piles of the white fluffy stuff had managed to gather; a ledge here, a few three branches there. After a few moments of just watching the snowflakes fall, Subaru turned his attention to finding his date, and it didn’t take long as it didn’t seem she had made it too far. A mischievous smirk graced the seekers face as he moved to catch up with her, scooping up a small pile of snow from off a ledge as he walked by. It only took a second for the small round projectile to be formed and sent in a slow arcing flight, the intent to land a few inches in front of his fellow Slytherin. ”Heads up fearless,” he quipped, an amused expression on his face.

It was nice out here. For once, Addie was actually kind of happy she'd chosen to come to the Yule Ball. Corrupting poor Subaru was proving to be a far better pass time for this sort of thing than sitting idly around chatting about meaningless gossip with her house mates. Even though she was sure she and Subaru were going to spend tomorrow dodging the gossip that was sure to be spread after the dancing earlier, she knew she'd have no regrets. She never regretted having fun. Besides, there were far worse blokes to be paired together with in gossip than Subaru. Sure, he was a loner and there were plenty of things said about him that were absolutely amusing and ridiculous all at once, but what did it matter? Might benefit her some. Besides, it would all be meaningless dribble and wouldn't matter in six months anyway. She and Subaru would never be a pair because of reasons the gossip mill had somehow missed thus far.
"Heads up, fearless!"
Somehow Addie had missed the sound of Subaru's approach, and she screamed playfully before giggling as the snow landed a few inches in front of her. It splattered up and some of its flakes dusted the front of her dress. Her face was screwed up in determination as she looked at him. Mischief sparkled in her eyes. Oh yes, tonight was worth it.
Addie set her glass on the bench and slid off into a crouching position just long enough to grab a good handful of snow. She squeezed the stuff together and then stood, her arm arcing back and then releasing as she stepped forward. Unlike Subaru, she wasn't aiming to miss.

The younger Slytherin laughed at Addison’s reaction to his thrown snowball. Her mood it seemed was infectious. He continued to make his way toward his date even as she crouched down to what he assumed was to make her own snowball. The mischief in her eyes mirrored his own, and even though he saw the snowball coming he wasn’t quite quick enough to dodge it. It hit his left shoulder and broke apart, flakes splattering up to catch his face. Subaru took a moment to dust himself off as he let out a shout of excitement.
”Hey! You’re supposed to play nice!”
Subaru didn’t waste any time and crouched down to arm himself, grinning the whole while. As far as Yule Ball’s went, this one was turning out to be his favorite by far. He’d have to remember to thank her for dragging him out, even if there had been dancing involved and there would be more rumors to dodge in the coming days. There was no way anyone in Sytherin house hadn’t noticed the pair on the dance floor. Once he had a sufficient ball of snow he launched it at Addie with the intent to hit her. As soon as the ball was released he was looking to make another ball knowing full well Addie would pummel him if he gave her the chance.
Post by Addison Mitchell on Apr 11, 2013 13:50:22 GMT -8
"Oops?" Addie replied as she rose a brow as though to say, "Really?" But of course, the boy was already down to make another snowball. She quickly squatted down to gather her own snow and make a few balls rather than just one. Unfortunately, that was a mistake that got her hit square on the top of her left shoulder. She looked up at Subaru with a mock glare that was riddled with the amusement in her eyes. She quickly gathered her snowballs in her arms and ran down the path a ways before disappearing behind the hedge that separated the two lanes. She squatted down there before trying to angle herself so she at least had a partial view of the path. Now to hope he wasn't smart enough to remember the row of hedges only went down the center of the two paths with a divide for a small walkway on both ends--not just the one she was on.
For now, she set to making a few more, listening for any sign of Subaru's approach. Then, it was war.
