Evie Winslow = Summer
Jamie Seams (Slytherin 7th), Ronald Weasley = Allie
Alexandra King = Ali
Casey Winslow, Brian Carter, Ginny Weasley (Gryffindor 6th) = Me
Evie sat at the head table looking down over the great hall. It felt strange sitting here after all those years of looking up at it. She fiddled with her cloth napkin that was set in her lap a little nervous about having to teach. That was something she did not sign up for once she joined the order, but they needed her to do it and she gave in at the end.
Jamie sat down at the Slytherin table, she saw Evie and her jaw dropped. No! No! No! Her mind whirled, but she managed to mantain it and refused to look directly at her. It felt so weird, having McGonagall sitting where Dumbledore should be. How she hated her former Lord!
Casey made his way up to the Professor's table, feeling very odd to be up there, looking down on the students. He walked past his wife to his seat, giving her a smile and a squeeze on the shoulder before walking down to his place and taking his seat, looking over at the different house tables. It all seemed strange, especially with Dumbledore gone...McGonagall, headmistress...He glanced over at her and then down at the gathering student body, seeing Jamie amongst the Slytherins. He wondered if she'd noticed Evie and him.
Jamie saw Casey and she buried her head in her hands. This would be the worst last year ever without Brian and with Casey and Evie. She wondered if they kenw Dumbledore had removed ehr Mark last year or not...they weren't there after all.
Brian walked past the other teachers, exchanging a few words with McGonagall before taking his seat. He looked over the familiar faces. He knew most of them...of course, the first years were new, but they were still outside. His gaze shifted to the Slytherin table. Jamie. He'd missed her these two years. They'd gotten together on rare occassions, but they were at odd intervals and very rare. He sat back casually in his chair, waiting to see how long it would take her to notice him.
Slender figure sat down at the Gryffindor table. Sapphire eyes were placed up toward the tables where the professors were at. Her eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw Casey and Evie up there. How scary was that?! She shook her head slightly and twiddled her thumbs, waiting quietly.
Jamie choked on her pumpkin juice and it shot out her nose when she saw Brian and gave a yelp of surprise. "Brian?!"
She must be dreaming! A good dream at that.
Brian didn't hear her over all the chatter, but he did have her gaze on her until he realized how it would be noticed by the students and looked down at his hands boredly, waiting for the feast to begin.
Alex, too, noticed Brian, but didn't care much. He would make an interesting teacher. Maybe even as nuts as Moody. She tried to hold back giggles as she saw Jamie choke on her pumpkin juice. Then she wondered where Ron was. She just hoped he wasn't a professor too!
Jamie stared at Brian, still surprised. She looked over at Alex and gave a nervous smile.
Alex looked over at Jamie again and returned the smile with a half smile. She wondered if she was Jamie's friend or not. But it didn't really matter to her. She still remembered Ron telling her to stay away from Jamie.
Ron stood near the back, trying to get Alex's attention. He needed to talk to her, badly.(in another post if he got her attention)
Ginny sat near Alex, looking around the table. It seemed so lonely without Harry, Hermione, and Ron there. She had already gotten used to the absence of Fred and George the previous year. She picked at her food. This simply was weird not having the usual chat with the trio...Harry in particular. She'd grown used to being close to him. Of course, it had been difficult to find time, being her fifth year and her having O.W.L.s to study for and Quidditch practice to attend, but they had found time to be alone. She had grown so used to him in such a little time, and here she was missing him even though she knew he could not be with her and respecting his reasons for breaking it off. She still held out hope for the future.
She glanced over at the teacher's table. So, Potions had been filled, and apparently DADA and Charms with the presence of Casey and Evie. It would be so strange to have to call her 'Professor Winslow' in front of people, not to mention, be taught by her best friend.
She moved her gaze from their table back to Gryffindor's, noticing Alex. She managed a smile. Hey.
Sapphire eyes had found who she was looking for. Her smile became full and more brighter. She gestured him to come sit down beside her. She then looked at Ginny and smiled. "Hello."
Ginny followed her gaze and her eyes landed on her brother and she smiled, happy to see him. She'd not seen him in a long while. She felt a part of her hope that perhaps Harry and Hermione were with him as well.
She looked back to Alex. "How was your summer?"
Ron shook his head and motioned for her to come to him.
Alex shook her head toward Ron and grinned mysteriously then glanced back at Ginny. "It was brilliant. How about yours?"
Ron sighed and walked over to her and sat down, whispering into her ear. "Alex, I really need to talk to you."
"It was alright. Rather quiet compared to usual, and my mum was more protective than ever. It was almost as though being confined in a small room...she smirked and rolled her eyes. She means well, but with all the rest of her children out in the world doing their own thing...I guess she wants her last child to be especially safe to make up for what she can't do for the rest." She shrugged.
Alex listened to Ginny, then stood up, looking at Ron. "Alright." She whispered.
Evie smiled as Casey passed her and brought her hand up to meet his as he gave her shoulder a light squeeze before going to sit on the opposite side of the table. She gave a loud drawn out sigh as she looked down at all her friends, no students is what they were now..How strange to stand infront of them all and teach especially Ginny seeing as how she spent alot of time with her still over the summers when ever she could.
Professor McGongall stood from her seat and exited the Great Hall and returned a few moments later leading a group of scared looking first years to the front. She set the three legged stool that held the Sorting Hat in the very center of the hall and unrolled a long list of parchment holding the students names
"Bridges, Michael," she called first and a boy with jet black hair stepped forward and sat on the stool. The Headmistress placed the tattered old hat on his head and the hat sprung to like
"Hufflepuff!" it shouted getting cheers from the yellow and black section, Evie began to wring the napkin tighter in her hands starting to feel very nervous, because once McGongall was done, she would introduce her, Casey, and Brian as the new Professors
Casey glanced down, watching the sorting ceremony. He supposed he had to show some interest now since he was up here, but he'd always found it very dull to watch a sorting ceremony, especially on an empty stomach. He stifled a yawn and watched as students were sorted into Raveclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. It seemed very strange not to be sitting at the tables, greeting the first years.
Jamie greeted the first years, but her eyes barely left Brian's face.
Once the ceremony was done Professor McGongall returned to her seat but did not sit down. She cleared her throat and in a stern voice called for everyones attention
"A few announcements before the feast may begin. To all first years, the Forbidden Forest is off limits to all student body," she said looking at a group of rather talkative Slytherins. "Further more," she began once again, "I would like for you all to join me in welcoming back some former students"
She said turning towards the left side of the table
"Professor Winslow has been so kind to fill the position of Defense Against the Darks Arts," she said motioning her hand towards Casey. "Professor Carter, the new Potions Master," she said moving her hand towards Brian, "and last but not least Professor Winslow has taken over Charms," she said lowering her left hand and raising her right in Evie's direction, Evie stood in her chair for a moment before sitting back down
"Now, tuck in," McGonagll said sitting down as food appeared on the tables
Brian stood from his seat, his eyes falling on Jamie momentarily before he quickly looked elsewhere in the room and sat down. It was strange to have McGonagall do what Dumbledore used to, but it would have to be gotten used to.
Ron led her outside and to the lake where the sun was setting...
Jamie noticed his eyes fall upon her and tried to catch them again. Why was he so resistant?
Casey stood and glanced around the room as well when his name was called. It seemed some were giving him odd looks, and he knew some were probably theorizing what might happen to him, as 'cursed' as the job seemed to be. He resumed sitting a few seconds later. He filled his plate when the speech was over and began to eat, chatting with Professor Sprout.
Evie piled some potatoes and some meet onto her plate and began picking at her food. Professor Sinistra turned and began talking to her, asking her how things were going with her and Casey and how her summer was. It seemed strange talking to one of her old Professors on such a casual basis but she smiled and told the professor everything she wanted to know
