11:00 p.m.
Casey had spent the past four days since the word of the execution had been leaked in the alley behind The Abbey, hoping to catch some kind of pattern in Liam's ventures either there or to the storeroom in the back of the pub. After all, he had no desire to go inside and risk running into Kara or someone that was far more dangerous to his health. He simply wanted to find out anything and everything Liam might have heard about plans for this execution beyond what he'd heard. All he'd heard was that it was on a Monday, "about the middle of the month," and in Diagon Alley. Hardly enough to go on to hope to be there on time or even figure out when or how to infiltrate.
So, here he was despite reservations. After all, any fool could see Liam was fond of Kara, and any fool could figure out that Kara probably had let it slip or at least acted in a manner that had suggested things weren't going well for them, and hell, lack of any mention of him or any questions concerning him could have tipped the bartender off that it was over and Kara had been hurt. Casey wasn't sure just what Liam would do or say to him when he saw him, but it was a risk that he had to take, and if the man was going to be all over Kara's honor or lecturing him about how to treat a lady, that was his problem. He wasn't interested in any of it because it was Kara's fault that things were the way they were. She had chosen not to listen or even attempt to be rational, to not talk to him about the problem before she blew up. And he knew how to treat a lady. He'd been married for thirteen years, for Merlin's sake!
Anyway, it seemed to Casey that usually Liam usually came to the store room around 11:00 at night to grab a brew of some sort that it seemed only one patron ever ordered, and said patron was a regular. So, he had picked his way into the back of the Abbey and into the back room where he now sat, waiting. Any moment, Liam would be down to make sure he had his brew up front and ready when his customer came.
