As soon as Lance was through Markus followed suit, stepping through the flames only a few seconds behind the recruit. He blinked a few times to clear is vision (blasted floo always did that to him) before taking a moment to dust himself off. They had arrived in the main foyer of the barracks, which for a Wednesday morning, was ridiculously busy with various personnel running to do various jobs in what Markus assumed was a last ditch effort to get things in order before the next batch of recruits came in. The Captain motion Lance to follow him and he proceeded to wade his way through the masses and eventually into a wide hallway that would lead them to the officer’s quarters and admissions.
Markus strode confidently up to the admissions desk and leaned up against the counter top with a grin. ”Richards! Get out here you lazy git! Ministries not paying you to do nothing you know.” A tall, older and very scrawny looking man appeared from one of the offices that were situated behind the desk.
”Aye, keep that up my young Wolf and I’ll be forced to trounce you like I did back in your training days.” The older man cracked a wiry grin before letting out a loud bellow of a laugh as he approached the desk, clapping Markus on the back once he was close enough to do so. ”Markus ma boy, haven’t seen you in a dogs age. Who’s this you have with you?”
The Captain chuckled at the man’s greeting, knowing full well the older man could probably trounce him in a heartbeat if he truly wanted. ”I know I know, brass has been keeping me busy with status docs and field assignments,” he shot back before turning to Lance. ”This is Mr. Lance Ulrich, newest recruit to try his hand at becoming a guard. Mr. Ulrich, this is Ryan Richards, head of admissions and soon to be one of your instructors if I’m not mistaken. Can you set him up with a place? I’ll worry about the skill assessment and psych exams.”
Richards nodded and held out a hand to Lance. ”Welcome to the fun kid. You wouldn’t happen to be Kurt’s boy now would you? Not that it matters, I’m sure you’ll make your own name soon enough!.”
Now that pleasantries had been exchanged and Markus knew Lance was in good hands, he fished through his robes for the paperwork he had Lance fill out earlier and slid is to Ryan who promptly tossed it in a basket to worry about later. He then turned to Lance. ”Ryan here will get you a dorm and then show you around the barracks. If you have any questions look for him or come find me. I’ll have everything you need for both assessments hopefully by the end of the day if the paperwork Nazi’s leave me alone for the afternoon.” That said Markus turned to head out, with every intention of apperating back to the Ministry. ”See you around.”
