10:00 a.m.
Lance was absolutely positive he looked like a common bum. He hadn't showered since yesterday morning. He had been wearing the same outfit since afterward. And he had slept on the streets, to make matters worse. He may have left home when his father sent him off with the intent of heading to Lily's, but pride had kept him from doing so. He had decided he didn't want her to see him angry and pissed like some helpless child, and now, he couldn't go there because he didn't want her to see him all filthy and fresh from the street. He could only hope that she wasn't in the office this morning. Hopefully she'd already been sent off with the person she was training with.
Trunk in tow and broom in hand, Lance made his way towards the place he knew to be the portal from Diagon Alley to the Ministry. Once he had flushed himself through the godforsaken toilet, he appeared in the main entrance to the Ministry. Well, now came the hard part: the wand check-in desk. He knew he had to do it, but he also knew that his trunk and broom would be apprehended so he couldn't cause any mischief. And who knew if people would look through it and realize what had happened and start gossiping about problems in the paradise of the Ulrich manor. He got in line, nevertheless. It was a necessary evil, after all.
"Papers," the lady at the desk said, holding out her hand. Lance reached into his pocket and handed them to her after retrieving them. She looked them over carefully, muttered a spell underneath her breath to ensure they weren't fraudulent, and then handed them back. "Wand, Mr. Ulrich," she proceeded. He handed it to her. The lady looked him over from behind her cat-eyed spectacles, raising a brow at the sight of him and his trunk. "Your trunk and broom as well. You understand, of course?"
"Of course," Lance replied, though he was obviously not pleased. He watched as the woman levitated his trunk over the desk and set it down.
"It'll be safe here," she assured him as he handed over his broom with a wary look.
"Of course."
"State your purpose."
"I need to turn in an application to the Law Enforcement office," he replied.
"Looking like that?"
"Well, I had a bit of a rough night last night."
"Yes..." she said, shaking her head and muttering something about young people and playboys. "Proceed. Level two."
Lance did as he was told and headed to the elevators. He was glad he didn't have to wait in line to board it this time, though he did end up standing awkwardly crammed inside it between two larger people who didn't smell very good in his opinion. The fact he might not either didn't hit him.
A few moments later, he arrived on the second floor and left the elevator, walking straight for the main office. "Excuse me? Who do I turn this into?" he asked the first person he saw, flashing his application. The man pointed back towards the very back of the room, and Lance headed over after taking a moment to collect himself. He had to make up in confidence and personality what he lacked in appearance right now. This was going to be fun.
